Why don't you give me an example of a 100mile trail race, anywhere in the world, where Jim would not be the objective favourite? By rankings. Not a UTMB. A course with a fairly neutral elevation gain (not that Jim is a bad climber). WS might be a US race but enough of the greats have had a go at it to gauge times and levels there. Jim has destroyed the times and plenty of ultra road guys have had a go. I didn't state this fact to say he is the best 100mile runner (roads) just to point out that distance is not a problem for him. coupled with his marathon speed and 50mile world best, he has, imo, the best CV to pull this off. This is all of course if he has trained properly for this and has one objective, not 1-2 like last time.
