2020 was a crappy year, no doubt about it. I am thankful that I was able to stay employed and my loved ones and I have been healthy all things considered. That is the most important things about this year.
I write this with a bit of guilt, but 2020 was a good year for running since there were no weekend distractions. Logged the most miles that I have since college (10+ years ago)
In the spring i ran three time trials
1. 5k in 16:46
2. 10k 2 weeks after in 35:40
3. Went for a Strava segment that was a 7 mile trail run around a local lake. Missed a section that was about 100 yards or would have had it. Avg. under 7 min pace so I was ecstatic with it.
Summer-lots of miles and hills. No racing. Finished my basement.
Fall
1. A a small Labor Day 5k race. Wore masks at the start and sent in waves of three every ten seconds. Ended up winning on chip time in 16:19. The vaporflys are for real.
2. Half marathon time trial in October. 1:15:48 at the local flat crushed rock trail. 2+ min PR
3. Two mile time trial a few weeks later in 10:12 at the same trail. Ran this with a friend who needed help to try and break ten.
4. Late October-Orienteering mtn. Bike, trail run and kayak. Didn’t finish the entire course
But made it nearly 50 miles total.
