I was an admirer of this kid. But I was suspicious. I raised kids around the Houston prep sports scene and was surprised at the 'by whatever means it takes' ethos I saw.
So this kids goes from HS running a 10.11, 20.31 and a 46.15 while long jumping 26 and 3.5 inch
to now being 2 years removed and having better training, being stronger and bigger and his max 200 is 20.66 and long jump is 24 7.5 inch
I see alot of HS athletes drop off in the NCAAs because they weren't natural athletes in HS where there is no drug testing and they lack the sophistication (except for alan webb whose dad was an anesthesiologist) to enhance w/o being caught in college and risk losing their scholarships.
While most people will summarily dismiss your assumptions, there is definitely 'some' validity to what you are saying. However, I have no reason to believe this particular athlete fits your assumption, most of the reasons why been mentioned. The high school doping among track athletes is almost exclusively sprinters who are looking for D1 football scholarships. This was prevalent during the late 90s to early 2000s; JaMe Samuels comes to mind. I think most athletes, parents and coaches nowadays have enough data points to know over- supplementation, even the legal stuff does not work long term. Also, this kid passes the biomechanical eye test for natural talent.
