Hi, i know core strength is important for running, is there a limit when too much core strength will hinder your performance or can you just keep getting a stronger core and it will help.

No - see Lopez lomong
Core strength is not really important. Running is more like people carrying massive containers of water on their heads. Very little strength and mostly balance.
I don't think your core can be "too strong" per se, but I do think that you can spend time on core that would be better spent on other aspects of training. If you do 2 hours of core every week, this won't directly hinder your performance, but you'd probably be better off if you cut the core work to 1 hour and spent that second hour running instead of doing core.

This^. Core work should be done daily, or maybe take one day off, IMO. I do mine with a 10-15 min warmup routine that includes pushups and other exercises, before the primary run of the day. The core work is the in between thing as I transition to something else, so always moving. Works for me.
Any weights I do after and these are 30 min max. If you can't get it done in 30 mins, you are doing too much for distance running, checking your phone or looking in the mirror too much. ;)
Yes, if you do too much core your abs will be so strong that they will always be in a state of flexion, to where you will not even be able to bend over. It happened to me and it was awful. I had to sit on the couch and eat ice cream for two months until it went away.
