Ninth is Madoka Nakano with a fourth here in 2019 in 2.27.39 taking 4.02 off her PB. Credible 11th in Doha at Worlds.

Tenth should be Yukari Abe: fifth here last year in 2.28.02, taking 6.41 off her previous best from 2015.

Mao Uesugi has the exact same PB, created when 16th at the very deep Nagoya event in 2019. Then won silver at the Asian marathon champs in China later that year. Couldn’t break 2.30 in Nagoya last year.
Both of the next two athletes share the first name Shiho. The better of the two, IMO, is Shiho Kaneshige. With a best of 2.28.51 when 16th here last year. Her profile at World Athletics says Shiho ran Chicago in 2019, finishing in 2.33.16; but the results on the Chicago website don't mention her.
Course has now changed to a loop course in a park

The ‘other’ Shiho is Shiho Takeshi. PB from 2016 of 2.25.29 when seventh in Nagoya. Best since was 17th in 2019 in the same city in 2.29.12.

14th could be Marie Imada, best of 2.29.35 when fourth in Saitama in 2018 then in 2019 represented Japan in the Asian marathon Champs in Dongguan when ninth in 2.48.30.
15th may be Miharu Shimokado, fourth just down the road from me on the Gold Coast in 2018 in 2.29.38 after running her PB in Nagoya in 2017 when sixth in 2.27.54
Sixteenth might be Anna Matsuda who was 15th in Nagoya in March last year in 2.30.36

Next should be Yuki’s wife, Yuko.

They married in May 2019 a couple of weeks after both won the Vancouver marathon. Yuko, formerly Yuko Mizuguchi, has a PB of 2.31.39 from 2014.

These two were big improvers.

Fifth should be a 28yo on debut, Ayumi Hagiwara. Best at the half of 70.16 in Yamaguchi in Feb last year when third. That was just one sec off previous best from 2014 when winning in Matsue.
Fifth on debut in 2.26.15

Next woman was one of 28 finishers in Nagoya sub 2.34 last year. No other event had more than 22 under that time. This year Valencia had 27 with Jordan Hasay being that last one.
Mirai Waku, December last year was fourth at the Asian Marathon Champs in Dongguan in her PB of 2.33.03. Was consistent across last year: 27th Nagoya in 2.33.37 then won Hokkaido in 2.33.44. Timewise, better at the half, best of 69.56 in 2015 when fifth at Okayama.
This, my seventh choice, was sixth in 2.26.xx
Looks like Maeda raced in actual flats
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
