Reia is 26 with her PB set last year in Nagoya: 2.23.52. Poor ninth there this last March. Best at the half as a 19yo (still the Asian U20 best ever) of 69.45. Almost got it (one sec off) here in Osaka last year in the lead up to Nagoya. I don’t think the NR is in play even with the form of the next two.
Second may be Honami Maeda, winner of their Grand Champs to grab the first seat on the Olympic train. Finished in 2.25.15 with the split between 20 and 25k in 16.41 to crack it open. In 2018 ran her PB here of 2.23.48 when second then seventh in Berlin. After last year’s G/Champs ran half PB of 69.08 for second in Okayama.
Third could be Mao Ichiyama. Won Nagoya last March in 2.20.29 to buckle up for her maiden Olympics. Last event this year ran PB for 10000 on the track of 31.11.56 when runner up at Nat Champs. That time makes her 11th fastest woman worldwide as well as 13th over this classic distance (3 sec quicker than Sara Hall). Will Mao attempt the ‘Galen’ at her home games?
Probable fourth is a phenomenon called Haruka Yamaguchi. Completed 31 marathons before finally going sub 2.30 when winning Kobe in November last year in 2.27.39. Improved again here when seventh last year in 2.26.35.
Ichiyama will win this. Lock it in.

Fifth should be a 28yo on debut, Ayumi Hagiwara. Best at the half of 70.16 in Yamaguchi in Feb last year when third. That was just one sec off previous best from 2014 when winning in Matsue.
Not again.
Sixth may be Mizuki Tanimoto, 11th in the deep Nagoya event last year in 2.25.28. Represented her country at Worlds with a credible 7th in the humidity.
Aussieboardclogger here. Yes again. RAK half coming next, too.

Next woman was one of 28 finishers in Nagoya sub 2.34 last year. No other event had more than 22 under that time. This year Valencia had 27 with Jordan Hasay being that last one.

Mirai Waku, December last year was fourth at the Asian Marathon Champs in Dongguan in her PB of 2.33.03. Was consistent across last year: 27th Nagoya in 2.33.37 then won Hokkaido in 2.33.44. Timewise, better at the half, best of 69.56 in 2015 when fifth at Okayama.
How ya gonna get to 21 by doing 3 every 5 days?

Maths. 35 days. 21 profiles. Seven lots of five days, seven lots of three profiles.
8th to complete may be Ayano Ikemitsu. More in a min.

Wife is running, but not top 12 so hubby will be pacing the leaders five min ahead, I guess.

Best of 2.26.07 when 12th at Nagoya in 2019. 13th there last year four min slower. Ayano repped for her country at the World Champs but couldn't complete in the wicked weather.
