He's a bad example, but for a different reason. His Presidential campaign and his term in office is a continuation of his political career (I think he started his political career in the 1970s and first ran for president in the 1980s). As vice-president he was ready to become president at short notice. It is normally expected that a President will serve for four years, but he can step down early and the vice president will become president. A nurse will normally serve for decades and there aren't vice-nurses who are ready to take the place of departing nurses with no notice. It can be costly and time-consuming to hire a replacement, so if an employee is expected to work for a short period of time they will only be preferred to a long term employee if they are better in other ways.
