Again my point was that Lydiard had months and months of high mileage and then a phase preparing him for racing. You pride yourself on training that is similar all year round. I'm not dismissing this especially in this professional era where athletes might race all year. (I wonder if 1960s Lydiard training would be successful today for runners racing 9 months of the year and needing to qualify.) I'm glad you found a system that can be successful all year round.
You have a very good point there. Today there is a need for a system that makes the runner
constantly ready to compete and with just a few small changes reach reccuring shape peaks.
Then a linear low mileage system with countless possibilities for accruals within the system is perfect -

Thanks JohnnyS! :)
I hope I someday will coach a great Swedish talent. -
So JS, to be honest, I disagree on a couple of things but for the most part I share a lot of the same training theories you post on these boards.
As an observation, you seem to undermine your own reputation by claiming to train athletes that many here say you are not. I don't know if it is entirely true because I am receiving second hand information but some are saying that you are creeping them out a little bit.
In my opinion, you have a lot to offer here and don't need to stretch the truth. So, it is just a piece of advice in that you need to tone that down a bit. -
Can you recommend all year schedule? A program that you repeat every week without any specific race?

True. But not as a good running coach. As a former good runner, as coach, and as a weirdo. Not that there is anything wrong with that. -
You ran 1420 and 2951 which are very good Times certainly better than most people on this website I would guess and based on your past messages it seems that had you persisted with a better training system you would’ve achieved better times and I’m guessing possibly in the 14 minute and 29 minute low range and this then would’ve made you a candidate to run a marathon in the 212 to 2: 15 time range. with those types of times you would’ve been a top 10 Swede in the Marathon.

Well....thanks for your comment Otter and nice to see you share a lot of the same training theories. :)
All the athletes that I have said here that I have trained is really true based on the contact (and results they officialy did ) we had via mostly messenger where I sent weekly training programs
to them which they at and during the week confirmed that they performed. This what I say here I can say is absolutely true and I swear on my mothers grave and my fathers dust it`s true!
During the journey now about five years it turned out that a few of them decieved me ,but sooner or later this emerged. As I have told I never coached Kamworor, but it`s true that he asked me to coach him in secret the fall of year 2016 to try to break the WR at 15 k road at Seven Hills race in Netherlands in December that year. When I had sent him the first weeks program it took a couple of weeks before he answered again and told me that he suffered from malaria. Typical! When my coaching of one of the greatest runners on earth was about to happen he got sick before it started -

The Swedish width top at marathon back then was quite good at the -80s and I placed 6:th in the Swedish Champs with my PR 2:22:09. So I was in the 10 top Swede back then. I`m convinced I had run mutch fasterif I had known then what I know today about "proper" training my way. Now it`s of course to late to break those times again but I still run sporadically and maybe will make a try to see how good as a master I can be with my DANCAN system. -

I can`t remember the exact date this was but I guess it was around -86 . My club mate Sören Hellmark won the race and I was second. It was a district champs 5000m for Gothenburg. -

I prefer to coach week by week . That way I can build next week`s program on exactly what happened the week before. So it`s actually the case that I individualize the training that is still based on the basics in my system.
Of course I can write a year`s schedule but that`s of course not the most effective way to improve. To some Kenyan runners I have sent a standing weeks training program and of course they developed. One guy with a best of then 2:38 at the marathon I sent a standing weekly program and he some months later sent me a message and was happy to have run 2:28.I then started to coach that guy week by week and I finally got him to run 1:06 half in Eldoret half marathon ( about 2000m high altitude). -

What about your Zambian runner a few years ago who you said would set all of the the national records from 1500m-marathon?
You said he ran an “easy” track workout of 8x2000m in 5:44 and 15x400m in 60-61.
What national records did he end up setting?
You said Angela Tanui would be ready for World Records and would break 65 in the half. How close was she to setting one while you coached her?
You said JSP Kipchirchir ran 10x500m in 1:10 at altitude as well as 8x3:12 at altitude as a junior athlete and was going to be world class. How did that turn out?
You said you were sure Folavio would break at least one South African Record. How many did he break?
You said Meshack Letim was doing workouts that showed he was ready to chase a world record. Did he set one?
Four years ago you said you had two runners ready to break 13:00. Did they?
I have a lot more questions about things you claimed but I’ll let you answer those for now.
^^
Okey......time to answer your questions here....... :) The Zambian runner turned out to be a cheater.
Angela Tanui I contacted after I had seen her race my hometown Gothenburg half marathon. She placed 3rd but I remember she ran with a beautiful style. I asked her if she had a coach and she told me she hadn`t and we agreed to cooperate. She won her first race easy with me as coach in Italy at a half in 1:09 . She did quite easy my speciality 20 x 400m in 68-69 sec with about 1 min rest. Time went by and she placed 2:nd in Rome-Ostia half with a 1:07 , she won in Vienna new years 5.2 km in just over 15 min and then I prepared her for her debut marathon in Vienna and she placed 5:th in 2:26 ( bad weather conditions)......after the marathon we talked about the race and future plans but short time after she cut our contact without saying anyting. I really believe
she had run the standing WR at half and maybe 5k/10k too if she had hold on with me as her coach. She showed in training that she was on her way to run 20 x 400m at 66-67 sec and that`s equal to sub 14 at 5 k and 29:05 at 10 k and 1:04 at half. But something that I don`t know happened and I`ve read she then was coached by a well known Kenyan coach but she never could run faster than 2:25 marathon .
Josphat Kipchirchir , Kenya, contacted me when he was age 16 back from U.S.A and high school where he ran about 4 min at 1500 and 14:45 at 5000m. He ran under the alias name Steve Lagat. In the beginning of my coaching of him he had problems to run 15-20 x 400m at 71 sec but quite fast he responded to the DANCAN system and ran faster in training. It took only a few months until he ran faster than ever in a xc race in Kenya and after some more months he was one of the 3 best Kenya junior xc runners. Almost no hill reps in training, just a few sessions when I prepared him for the xc races. Then he ran a 10000m race in Nairobi at 28:10 ( 1900m altitude). And I coached him to 2 wins in the prestigious Discovery XC . After that he became a pro and I just adviced him now and then about workouts to do. Then after some time he wanted me to coach him again and I coached him to a second place in a 10000 race that was 1 of 4 to qualify to Tokyo olympics and I coached him to a 3rd place in Discovery XC before covid-19 put a stop to races.....can you agree he is world class?
Folavio Sehohole, South Africa , I coached to a 3rd place in SA Champs 1500m year 2017. We got problems in the preparation when he got the flu some few weeks before but we got him in quite good shape again and he did just a little tactical mistake last 200-250 m when he took the lead too early. Anyway he and I were happy for the bronze.....he told he had a sponsor for running in Europe that summer but unfortunately the sponsor dropped out. Then I had him ready to run 1500 at 3:36-3:38 and 5000 in 3:10-3:15 so it was a pitty he couldn`t race in Europe .He still knows I`m the best coach for him but he has to think about his financial economy with family and so on and then try to find the best financial solutions.I don`t blame him and understand. :)
Meshack is one of the two runners I thought should run sub 13 min at 5000m but he had a will to join the Kenya army and I`m afraid he this way wasted his enormous talent ......he ran a 13:28 5000m in Germany already at age 16 .He was injured a couple of years after and then joined my coaching. He ran a 13:34 up at altitude in my coaching and he was second in a 10 k road in Kenya with 28: 30 .
So we can maybe sum this up and say that the road to the top isn`t without obstacles...... :) -
