It’s a NOVEL coronavirus. The learning curve is steep because of that. Why do people expect our scientists to know all about it on day one? We are still learning more about it every day.
Yes.
I remember when this first was being ginned up we were told this is a "novel" virus -- but we will have a vaccine in 12 to 18 months.
Why defend these obvious liars?
Rojo, I agree with you that the “follow the science” line is getting old. It’s become some sort of virtue signaling as if saying that following science makes you a morally good person. When people say this now I generally tune out the rest of what they say. Here are a few problems I have with “follow the science”.
When I say you I am referring to the general population.
1) It’s become cliche. people don’t think about what those words mean, they are merely parroting the social media guru they adore.
2) Do you understand the science? This stuff is super complicated and you think you can just follow it? Did you read the research literature surrounding COVID-19 and understand it? probably not.
3) The “I follow the scienTISTS” excuse. How do you know that these scientists are not plagued by a harmful political ideology? Remember when all those scientists said it was perfectly fine to protest during the pandemic so long as it was done in the name of social justice? That was a great moment for “science”.
4) If you don’t understand statistics you are pretty much useless in any of these covid conversations. The simple operations in statistics like getting the average or a percentage are fairly straightforward but as soon as you delve into more difficult topics people have a really tough time. I saw this all the time in university as I was close to the statistics department. Kids would do really well on the first exam when it was only mean median and mode but as soon as you through probability or p values in everyone crashed and failed. I think a lot of people suffer from the dunning kruger affect when it comes to explaining any data in a statistical way when it comes to covid-19.
Some people might read this and think I am somehow against science. I am not. The vaccine being developed was an incredible feat. Some companies like SAS have incredible tools for developing new findings with the data available. Truly incredible stuff. What I am against is people virtue signaling by claiming to “follow the science”.

Plus scarves and cotton cloth is not PPE. If Fauci wanted to save the PPE masks for the medical people, he should have just told Americans to wear non-PPE masks or scarves, or even wrap a t-shirt around our heads.
It's all about submission, destroying the small business economy, and providing survival funds only for those who completely obey the globalist elite.
Could you post a link to a case when he said he advised something to "mislead so as to not cause panic"? Because frankly, i don't think that was the case at all.

You have no clue of the knowledge and understanding these people have thru yrs of study and research. Its beyond your understanding.
What's the use if those same people can lie about whatever they want to?
In a world where no one tells the truth, you are left with no option but to reject advice from anybody.
Also notice that most of the "follow the science" people are people from demographics that historically have contributed very little to science. Like Womens' Studies majors with purple hair, or would-be Urban Dance Studies majors who read at a 3rd grade level.
Sarah, look in the mirror, and say, "I need to be better. I didn't even provide a counter-argument, I just lashed out at Rojo like a Scientologist lashing out at a "suppressive person".
His inconsistency has rattled a lot of people's faith in "the government". I have sympathy for the position he's in because our knowledge has continually evolved over the year. We knew almost nothing about the virus when it first hit us. It's easy to go back and criticize what he's said when we know more. Hindsight is 20/20.
But no question his inconsistent messaging has in and of itself become a major liability.
I was considering contributing to LRC as a VIP paying member, just this morning.
With harmful partisan issues like this being promoted by the owner of the site,
I WILL NEVER CONTRIBUTE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THIS SITE.
Why would i financially support what i consider to me harmful, misleading, opinionated and wrong-headed posts done by the very people entrusted to keep it neutral? LOL.
Thanks for saving me $75 and this is absolutely true and a direct response to what you should have not posted, Rojo.
Happy Holidays.
Start with the assumption everything out of his mouth is a lie in service of the oligarchs

Also, come to your own conclusions.
Don't conclude something just because you see it on the brainwashing boob tube.
Youtube videos and rightwing blogs are much better sources
Great arguments to refute the information on rojo's post, monkey boy.
Well, I am learning that.
Thank you for speaking up against those that would undermine public health initiatives and confidence in those who would implement it.
Dr Birx is to RETIRE after 'overwhelming' backlash over her out-of-state Thanksgiving trip:
'Hypocrite' COVID expert to step down after ignoring her own travel warning
Dr Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus response, announced her retirement plans on Tuesday
But she said she is willing to first help President-elect Joe Biden's team with its coronavirus response as needed
The news came two days after reports emerged that she had traveled out of state over Thanksgiving weekend - ignoring warnings by herself and the CDC
Birx was widely branded a hypocrite for the Black Friday trip to Delaware
She insisted that the purpose of the visit was to deal with the winterization of her property - not a holiday celebration
On Tuesday she lamented that the scrutiny has been very hard on her family

Yeah, he should be fighting to stop over-population in India and Africa, and trying to stop polution in China and India.
LOL, suuuuure Doc:
“I have not seen any peer-reviewed research linking outdoor protests (or really any major outdoor events) to the surge here in Texas,” said Rodney Rohde, PhD, an associate dean for research at Texas State’s College of Health Professions who focuses on public health microbiology.
Texas had been one of the first states to start reopening — including indoor facilities such as bars and movie theaters. But the surge of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks has led to a reimposition of some lockdown measures and a requirement in some regions to wear face masks when in public.
The COVID-19 spike in Texas is likely tied to the reopening, not the protests, Rohde said.
“One can look at the time frame post-protests regarding case counts, hospitalizations, and mortality to see if there may be a correlation. I have not seen that in my observations,” Rohde told Healthline.

Covid Believers are ruled by fear and emotion and this causes the most ridiculous things to come out of their mouths (figuratively)
