i can’t bake i’ve there is so so many haters of the peg 37s. favorite trainer ever. the air zoom pocket in the front makes a smooth bouncy ride and the extra react foam the added makes it amazing for long runs. i am a mid foot/forefoot striker so maybe that has something to do with it? i’m interesting to hear what kind of foot strikes you guys have who hate the 37s.
I’m a midfoot/forefoot striker. I don’t hate the Pegasus 37 but it is far from a perfect shoe. After 100 miles the air zoom units feel completely lifeless. Also, one shoe has a noticeable squeak in the air zoom unit.
For me, the fit is very comfortable. If you have a wide or even slightly wider than average foot, this shoe will be a nightmare for you. Not as bad as the Rincon though.
The Peg 37 feels okay on easy runs and mid length long runs but can feel quite harsh after 65-75 mins. I wouldn’t want to be wearing it on a run of 16+ miles.
React foam gets incredibly hard in cold weather. It felt like I was running with bricks on my feet in -15C weather.
Also, the shoe is heavy. It’s fine for running easy but when you pick up the pace it is very noticeable. During a long tempo I could really notice the weight of the shoe in the last couple miles. It’s not something you want to be thinking about when you’re starting to suffer.
I just don’t think it does any job very well. I only use it on mid week long ish runs followed by some strides.
