Yuki FTW !
Yuki has always done well at Hofu. Another good run by the big fella.

Did you even read the original post? He didn't win.
That was really very good to run one more 2:10.
Does someone know from reading about him if he since April last year ( becoming a pro then)
has changed his training routine to now mostly doubles? Will be interesting to see if he can reach his PB 2:08:14 once more.......
With the winner until the last 5k. Slowly dropped. Then fell off the pace hard last 2k. Waiting for video recap.
Without super shoes as far as I could judge from pics. Shows Yuki's abilty, but still might be a bad sign because he raced in blacked out metaracer prototypes before I think, so this would mean he for whatever reason doesn't like to wear them and therefore can't gain the same advantage others do. So even if he can get down to 2:08 again in the future this won't help him really much if he wants to stay competitive
Even more amazing is that Yuki ran the Fukuoka Marathon very recently, about two weeks ago in 2:13:50ish.... The guy is a machine

You make a very good point about his minimalist racing flats from ASICS. Thinking about this, one thinks that he may have been able to run 2:07-2:08 with the Bunge Bunge shoes.
There's also a guy, #56, who seems to have a pair of NB Hanzos. Any idea who he is and how he did?

I don't see Yuki?

Lol the guy's hair behind him made him look different. I am also surprised to see also another guy in minimal shoes (56).
One significant advantage Yuki has over other athletes in terms of recovery is that he has super strong quadriceps muscles and overall his legs are very very strong certainly stronger than average and this allows him to recover from races at a much shorter period of time compared to other athletes of comparable athletic level. whereas other athletes will take weeks to recover from marathons he will be good to go within a few days.

This was one of the reasons for his success in the Boston marathon in those absolutely terrible inclement weather conditions in 2018 in freezing rain when athletes on paper were much faster than him were left far behind Yuki. He was just about the only athlete to race in short shorts and singlet and yet still able to triumph in those conditions.
Of course. That we already knew, his recovery ability is fantastic, but maybe that ability is something trainable? I do remember another elite runner did 2:09 in a marathon and only one week after another 2:09 , so I think it`s possible for more runners to run the same style like Yuki. But most of us believe they that way never will reach their optimum result.
