I’m an 800m guy that is working to build a bigger base this offseason so that I can be D1 competitive in the 1500/Mile. For the last 4 months it’s been building mileage from 30 mpw to 55, while including 2-4 mile tempos at 5:20-5:50 pace, 400/800s at 3k-5k pace, 100-200m strides at 800m pace (about 3:45-3:50 per mile for me rn.)
I strained my groin muscle playing basketball last week and just decided to do a lot of slow easy mileage this week in order to give it a break.
S - Off
M - 12 miles at 6:50
T - 10.5 miles at 7:15
W - 13.1 miles at 6:48
T - 11 miles at 7:25
F - 11.5 miles at 7:10
S - 14 miles at 7:15
After warmups and everything I ended up with 75 miles this week. Do you think this will be helpful overall to my Mile/800 fitness or have I wasted this week? I’m happy with the mileage but other than closing the last mile or two of a few of those out in mid 5s I really didn’t do anything fast. Just curious.
