Just got a pair. I haven’t run in them yet. How many miles can I expect to get out of them? Also, does the foam lose its effectiveness with age even if I don’t put miles on the shoes?

I am not speaking specifically about the AlphaFly but most shoes degrade (slowly) even when stored well. I am talking about years though.
Most people on Youtube are getting 200-300+ miles on them. I have about 175 on mine. The outsole shows barely anymore wear on it than it did around 25 miles. The ZoomX foam definitely seems more stout in the Alphas when compared to the Next%. Maybe it is the sheer volume of it but whatever it is it lasts longer.
Depends on where you run, how much you weigh, foot strike, etc.
For sure 200 miles.

I weigh 155 pounds. I run outside mostly on asphalt and some concrete. I heel strike.
For your weight you'll get alot of wear. But that will be negated by being a heel striker. The one weakness of the Alpha is the heel. Still better than the Next% or 4% but it's really made for mid/fore foot striking (where the rubber is).
I cracked the plate in mine after 150mi but then ran the best mile repeat workout I've ever done with the cracked plate.
Still looked good enough after 180mi in terms of the outsole rubber, but the exposed zoomx was chunking off due to my heel strike.

I tested my running economy in a new pair vs a pair that I had around 250 miles on. I was still getting nearly the same benefit in the old pair (4.2%) vs the new pair (4.8%) relative to my standard control shoe I use for testing. I'm going to test that same old pair again around 350 miles here soon. My thought is ZoomX midsole performance holds up quite well. If the outsole wear becomes so bad that you start chewing up the midsole foam I could see that being more of a concern, but mine have been fine running on normal roads conditions.
I am a bigger runner (5'10 - 195lb) - I have a pair of Alphas that have over 500 miles (866 km to be exact) on them, and they are still running great. Sure, foam isnt AS bouncy, and there is a little tear where my pinky toe is, but they are far better than any trainer I have ever used before (I know they aren't trainers).
AMA - I can send photos as well. The shoes last and they are dope.
I have an old pair with 300mi on them now, they still work for most workouts. Also have a pair with only 25mi on them from racing, they of course feel much better on foot for key workouts and races.
~190lbs mid to forefoot striker.
I am excited about my first marathon in 2 weeks. I am 45 and have run 3 1/2 marathons all about 1:28-1:29. I am 6/1 and 165 lbs. All of my half marathons were in Alphafly1. I had been hoping to buy the Alpha 3 for this race but no such luck. I hear bad things about the Alpha 2. Question is whether I can trust the Alpha 1 with about 60 miles to get peak performance? I was not crazy about endorphin elite, my VF1 (which I loved) are worn down and I hear mixed things re VF3. Any thoughts appreciated.
You’ll be fine mate. 60 miles is nothing.
25.5.
Take em out of the box. Toe the line. Pace appropriately. Run the last .7 on pure hate.
Are the Alphas more durable than the Vapors? I just tossed a pair of Vaporflys that had 197 miles on them. The outsoles were delaminating and one of the rubber heel counters came off. I am easy on shoes with several pairs of trainers running over 1000 miles now.
300 on mine, they still feel good. I think the air pod units extend the good feeling over the Vaporfly which I also have.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
