OP said he has Achilles issues too. 4mm drop won’t be any good for that. Endorphin speed is 8mm drop. I believe the OP will have most success with an 8mm drop shoe. The 10-12mm drop shoes put a ton of pressure on the hips, especially if they are soft and squishy.
I have hip issues and the kinvara has worked wonders for me. Unfortunately it is 4mm drop and will be hard on your Achilles and calves.
If you have problems with your Achilles and hips/glutes you really just need to do a lot of strength work. Resistance bands are your friend. Body weight core type stuff. Light weights if you have access. Attack the problems head on instead of dancing around them.
I had Achilles issues too...Insertional on both heels. What was my problem? Sh1t posture, sh1t hip function, and running in shoes with a drop. I fixed my posture, fixed my hip function, and now run in Altras and am good. Still if I run in shoes with a drop I can feel the instability in my hips. Feels like my trochanter moving around.
