Today I tried to do my first threshold/ cruise interval workout of my winter training; a little windy but not too bad
My goal was 3x1 mile in 6:00 with 200 jog, and yesterday I had gotten down to 6:30 pace for 1.5 miles at the end of my run just for some background.
On the first lap I seemed to be in control and hit the first 200 in 44 and the first lap was already off pace in 1:33 and by the end of the rep I finished in 6:13
The next rep I was 46 at the 200 and 1:35 at the 400 but I finished in a whopping 6;26
My last rep I hit the half mile in 3:16 and just sort of stopped feeling discouraged
For some reason I just can’t keep focused and always lull off on longer intervals and even tempos too. I can never seem to get into the zone of comfortably hard without drifting off The only good ones I ever do are when I have a teammate or go out way too fast and die off to hit the correct split
I’m still planning to do these week after week to work on them but is there anything I can work on so I can make my workouts and pacing more consistent and on point?
