I live in a bordering state and have always thought Delaware was a pretty crappy state.
Other than the beaches, it doesn't have a whole lot going for it. Mostly flat and boring.
It's not the worst state, but it's nowhere near the top.

Also used to live nearby in NJ - lots of people from my high school went to University of Delaware - never understood why, it's not a bad school but not worth out of state tuition.
Delaware is small and unremarkable, some decent beaches. Average income in Delaware is higher than most states.
I can think of many states worse, w/ higher crime and poorer than Delaware. Just depends on what you are looking for I guess.
Always laugh thinking of the the Simpsons' trip to Delaware 'I want to visit a screen door factory'

Ok, seriously?
Right off the bat, Oklahoma and New Jersey have to be considered for two of the worst. NJ has some nice areas, but they lead the country in sh!tty cities.
Also more crap states:
Louisiana
Mississippi
Alabama
Arkansas
New Mexico
Kentucky
West Virginia
Idaho
Missouri
I would live in Delaware before I'd live in Indiana even.
What are you even talking about?
Delaware is bottom half, but just barely.
Half of what you consider crap states are actually quite lovely if you take the chance to visit them instead of dismissing them out of hand due to a political bias. The Ozark Plateau that extends into SW Missouri, Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas is absolutely lush and beautiful with great fishing and tons of water activities and hunting. Idaho has the Sawtooth Range, the backside of the Tetons, Coeur D'alene, Lake Pend Orielle, great fishing, etc. (how it even made your list is beyond me). New Mexico has some great mountains and canyons from Santa Fe north trough Taos and south and east of Albuquerque and some interesting geography (white sands is a pretty neat place). Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama all have beautiful coastlines and great fishing. Kentucky and West Virginia both have lots of hills and mountains.
The thing you can find in those states that you can't find in a packed urban place like Delaware is solitude. Delaware is 20.8% urban [5th among the states, behind Connecticut (37.0%), Massachusetts (38.1%), Rhode Island (38.3%) and New Jersey (39.4%)]. As opposed to ID (0.6%), NM (0.7%), AR (1.9%), MS (2.4%), MO (3.0%), KT (3.6%), AL (4.3%), and LA (4.5%). You can have your urban places, give me open spaces.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/modern-minds/201807/3-ways-city-living-is-linked-psychological-illnessThe main issue with Delaware is that the state has prostituted its laws to make it the preferred place for incorporation for most big companies. There is a very clear link between Delaware's deference to big business and Biden's centrist neoliberal politics.
As for Delaware as a place to live, it is actually quite pleasant. I have family in Philly. They have come very close to moving to Delaware on a couple of occasions. I would take Rehoboth Beach over Ocean City. Wilmington is a nice small city. It is basically a mini Philadelphia but with out so much urban decay.
I would be much more concerned about a president coming from Louisiana. That state is corrupt through and through.
Utah is the worst state for obvious reasons. Scenery can't make up for living with several million demented Donny Osmond clones.
Oklahoma - anyone ever been there? That state should disappear. Would anyone notice if it did?
Nebraska-Iowa - they should merge and just be one large awful state, instead of two awful states.
Delaware sucks. It's on par with New Jersey.
Those six are pretty much the only states that truly suck.
Wilmington has a very high crime rate despite Biden taking on Corn Pop. In "The Final Round", episode 3 of "The Incredible Hulk" (March 10, 1978), David Banner gets off the train (the one that Hunter later ran with all of his railroading experience) in Wilmington and within minutes is mugged on Market Street. Art imitating life. Not much has changed in reality since then.
Most companies incorporate in Delaware because of favorable tax treatment.
But everyone driving back and forth between PA and MD have to pay a toll in Delaware for going over a small strip of road.
Also, the University of Delaware cut its men's XC and TF programs years ago (perhaps a thought leader?) and then tore out one of the better indoor tracks on the east coast.
Yes Scranton is a much worse state than Delaware...even though it is not a state, it is worse than any state.
I have heard good things about the Womens XC and Distance. program ... anyone in the know know anything about that program? up and coming in the CAA?

Utah- the scenery isn't enough to make it a great state, especially when you have Colorado and Wyoming right next door, but it certainly isn't bottom 6.
Delaware and New Jersey aren't great states either, especially when they're surrounded by pretty good states (NY, PA, MD), but I wouldn't consider them bottom 6.
Iowa's fine, it's boring, but at least Iowa has a few somewhat nice cities/towns.
Nebraska is interchangeable with Kansas on my bottom 6 states list, so i'll have them tied.
Worst 6 states:
6) Nebraska/Kansas
5)North Dakota
4)South Dakota
3)Oklahoma
2)Alabama
1)Mississppi
We first have to define the criteria of "worst states". One possible criteria is by education.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_and_territories_by_educational_attainment
Sort the above list by Bachelors Degree or higher. Delaware ranks at #20.
Interestingly, using this same list and you have go to #16 on the list to find a state (including DC) that went to Trump. Only 5 of the top 26 by higher education went to Trump. Biden only got 5 of the bottom 25 least educated states. The great political divide in America is not a philosophical one, it is primarily an educational divide.

Never liked it. Paid tax in both places. Schools suck, and everywhere there were strip malls. When my Daughter went to UD we had to pay out of state, even though I was a Delaware tax payer
A positive is its near the water
Umm, pretty sure every state is like this. You pay tax where you work, and if your home state has a higher tax rate you pay the difference to them.
In-state tuition is based on residency, other than a few states that have reciprocity deals- but that has nothing to do with where you work.

Coached by Ryan Waite. He ran at BYU & Oregon and was a grad assistant or something at BYU before starting up at Delaware. Has done a good job with limited resources.
I just hate Joe. I just hate everything about him. That smug smile, the plagiarism, the nepotism, the lying about his education, the fake folksy stuff.

Don't tell Ivanka and Jared about nepotism ! And Trump is well over 20,000 mistruths and falsehoods in 4 years.
No sales tax
Nice beaches
Close proximity To OTHER STATES LIKE PA AND MD
It’s just a small state and it’s no more or less boring than the following states:
Ohio
The dakotas
Basically any of the bread basket states
Arkansas
New Mexico

I'm sure he's really bothered by your opinions. Enjoy the next 4 years, Trumpster/loser.

You would be surprised. After living in the same state with him for decades, it is apparent that he does let a lot of little things get under his skin. I am sure he would withdraw his hand if Distefano came up to him down at the beach. And I am not a Trumper, just don't like Biden after watching his real behavior/persona up close over the years. I was quite happy when he was fumbling around after the first debate as I would have preferred some of his opponents . I still don't understand what happened after New Hampshire, but here we are.
As someone who has spent time in all of these states, I think you are doing a Kansas a huge disservice by putting it in the same category as Nebraska. Nebraska is probably the worst on that list followed by the Dakotas
