I saw this on Rojo's thread but did not want to veer off-topic so I started a new thread.
I find the years the top 10 made this list interesting. From '64 there were three 14:00 or better in the next 5 years. Then from Virgin ('73) to Ritz ('01), a 28 year period there was only one addition. What a drought! Young also broke an 8 year drought.
Might the reduced emphasis on National Juniors explain the few additions since '01 but why 28 years with just one addition? Surely many of the top XC & 3200 guys were running 5K at HS nationals or National Juniors?
