Wrote about it at the time. Yes a solo effort is harder than when the runner has a convoy of pro runners to run behind. I think Young was 13th that race. But it was just the normal pro race.

Yes. Glad to help.
Those girls cost her much less than they gave her, since they were perfectly strewn singly aroud the track. Passing all of them at once mid-race with no one between would have been the worst case scenario.

They gonna run this young lady till her legs fall off? Give it a rest already!
I'm going to go 15:41.20... I think Tuohy's national record was on a much harder course.
So in reading the dyestat article it sounds like no one fast enough is in the race to push her ot the record. If I was her, I'd just run it in a guys race or time trial and everyone would know what the time was.
"She hopes her final act Friday in South Carolina will be no different, especially with the expectation of competing against Atlanta Track Club athlete, Vermont graduate and Swedish professional Yolanda Ngarambe, who boasts a 5,000 personal best of 15:38.79. Ngarambe ran 15:55.46 at the Sound Running Track Meet."

Has that ever been allowed?
Rheinhardt is not going for sub 4. He just took a two week break until last week before AAU Nattys, I speak with him frequently and he doesn't plan on going sub four he's just getting in a race.

Post of the month....why is it that elite high schoolers feel the need to race so much...collegiate and pros don't
That is a strange decision. A 16/17 year old who wants to peak next June should be doing some easy jogging right now. Travelling 5 hous on a school day to a high level track meet just to run slower than his PR doesn't sound logical.
In a year where competitions are not guaranteed, and high school seasons are all over the place depending on where you live, finishing your fall season with a track race after a successful cross season makes a lot of sense. Jenna will be taking several weeks of active recovery after this race. And yes, unlike the rest of you, I actually know what I'm talking about in regards to Jenna AND the wisdom of a track race while in good fitness from cross.
You responded to me but I was only commenting on Harrison. I like Hutchins' plan going for the record right now. But for him, others said he is coming off of a 2 week break so he is not finishing a season but starting track season very early and not in shape.
Sorry about that! I should have noticed that.

Do I now have to rescind all of my PRs I ran in races where I didn't win and had runners with me the entire way? Please answer promptly as I now have massive guilt and anxiety over your perception of this.
Completely different situation. In a true race, everyone is trying to beat everyone else. In the Brown TT, the boys were running within their limits and there only objective was to help pace Brown to a fast time. They were not racing her and she was not racing them. She had no need to try to win the time trial. All she had to do was get behind the boys and follow them to the line. The boys were not going to run away from her and leave her. If they got too far ahead they would let her catch back up. Nothing like a race.
Oh well. Every world record is now broken with the use of pacers or lights.

Lol. When theirs an uncertainty of meets and you never know the next time you're gonna spike is I think it's ok that he goes and races. Also they have online school so he's really not gonna be missing out on much.
I think Jenna will run 15:35 and Harrison will run 4:08.
This was NOT the best cain could have run. She just ran that simply to hit the standard although she most likely never was going to run the 5000 at USAs.
In a hypothetical 5000 cain would smoke any of these girls.

This race takes the place of FLN which would have been this weekend. Runninglane in Huntsville took the place of FL South. So eight races total for her which is the same number as the last two years. And not all of them were full efforts.
She turned down an NXN invite last year while other elite girls like Ewert and Hart ran 10 or 11 races with NXN and FLN back to back in early December. Hutchins is probably the most cautious elite HS runner in both training and racing.
