16 year old high school junior daughter wants to donate blood. Very dedicated and talented runner, will be in running for state championships in outdoor and indoor track ( yes I realize probably no indoor this season) in mile and 2 mile next couple of years. Moderate mileage, topped out at low 50's for a few weeks in highest mileage XC buildup. Will likely build up close to that this winter. Just starting a. weeklong break then will run every other day for a week or so,. During this start back up to running is when she wants to donate blood. Yes I know it is way more important to donate blood than to shave a few seconds off a PR and I do not want to discourage her from doing it. I am actually pretty damn proud of her for doing it!! But, I want to be aware of any consequences that could come from it running wise. How long will donating blood affect her training/racing? Any thing to watch for especially? thanks for any insight
