It's fine, sure. I hope the help she gets is useful.
Weird that the piece doesn't mention that she is a professional actor though.

I’m brave too!
What does her acting have to do with her depression? An opinion piece isn't wikipedia.
She is by trade, an actress and an athlete.
just the facts, ma'am wrote:

I think if performance/presentation is part of the presentation, as in this piece, then the fact she is a professional actor and director is a piece of the puzzle. It helps you understand why she is so well composed and smooth. And all the closeups to show her emotions, hinting at inner upset...I mean come on. If you are going to imply that the camera is capturing a raw emotion...but the subject is paid to pretend emotions...it's important for the viewer to know.
I'm sure this will be met with requisite sensitivity here, people will put aside their bias around her work, her performances, her past decisions, her looks to show understanding and support.

Yes I’m sure they will!
BTW, what shoes is she running in for this video? Champion? They kinda look like Atreyu.
An example of Alexi's wonderful trait where she seems to be your friend, but in actuality "It's really all about Me" vibe creeps in and takes all the oxygen away. Warning!!! Stay away from her cult of Bravies, she will lead you to a place of self-absorption and ruin. Just ask Jordan.
“After the Olympics, I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression,” says @AlexiPappas, a record-setting runner who raced at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. “It nearly cost me my life.”
This has got to be the most attention-starved woman in the world.

So you don't think she actually had depression? Or you just don't like that she presents something that happened to her in a compelling, polished narrative? Are you railing against high production value or something? I'm still confused about what your issue is here, unless it's just that you have an issue with anything she does?
I admire that she shared her story. So brave.
So bravey!
If this was nearly anyone else. I’d say bravo. Pappas.....seems like another bid for attention
Haven’t we heard this story from her before? Is this a mini series?

I agree.

Agreed, this thread should surely be free of the usual letsrun misogyny and toxicity.
She is an actress, poet, writer, director, singer, supermodel, race car driver, lumberjack, porn star, artiste, celebrity chef, philanthropist. She is bravey. She is the most interesting person in the world.
Her feet don't get blisters, but her shoes do.
She can speak Russian - in French
Her tears can cure cancer, too bad she never cries
She once brought a knife to a gunfight just to even the odds
When she meets the Pope, the Pope kisses her ring
If she were to visit the dark side of the moon, it wouldn't be dark
She once won a staring contest with her own reflection
Her signature won a Pulitzer
She lives vicariously through herself
Roses stop to smell her
She has won the lifetime achievement award, twice
She once had an awkward moment, just to see how it feels
Mosquitoes refuse to bite her purely out of respect
Panhandlers give her money
When she goes to Spain, she chases the bulls
Her shadow has been on the 'best dressed' list twice
Two countries went to war to dispute HER nationality
When in Rome, they do as SHE does
Presidents take her birthday off
Her business card simply says I'll call you.
Television watches her
Her air guitar work has won multiple Grammys
She is the only person to ever ace a Rorschach Test.
Every time she goes for a swim, dolphins appear.
Alien abductors have asked her to probe them.
Her reputation is expanding, faster than the universe.
If she were to mail a letter without postage, it would still get there.
The police often question her just because they find her fascinating
Even her enemies list her as their emergency contact.
She's been known to cure narcolepsy just by walking into a room.
She's a lover, Not a fighter, but she's also a fighter, so Don't get any ideas.
She's counted to infinity. TWICE!
Her sweat is the cure for the common cold
She once got pulled over for speeding, and the cop got the ticket
The dark is afraid of her
Sharks have a week dedicated to her
She only gets outrun after challenging someone to a fight.
27 Post Office vans have broken down delivering Valentine's cards to her.
In Canada, they sing "O Alexi"
She fired Donald Trump.
Children bring candy to her house on Halloween.
The Dalai Lama comes to her for enlightenment.
When Midas touches her he turns to gold.
The Old Testament didn't mention her on the fear she would strike them dead.
She is so clever that sometimes she doesn't understand a single word of what she is saying.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and Alexi's greatness. And I'm not sure about the former.
Her greatest pain in life is that she will never be able to see herself perform live.
She's like a tree. She feeds the branches of the people.
She's pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, ridiculously good-looking. And she plans on finding out what that is.
She is the most interesting person in the world.
Yeah.
First thing first, I was touched by her story and her sharing her new understanding of her mother. That had to have been an incredibly difficult thing to process.
I'm glad the piece mentioned the other athletes that came forward and spoke about mental health like Phelps, Gold and Love. I was irked by the implication at the beginning that she was the 'first' athlete to speak out about mental health in sports or that 'no one' was having this conversation. I believe that this has been a conversation for a long time, and more and more teams and athletes are turning their focus towards it. For that change I will credit the above three athletes, as well as Mary Cain, Aly Raisman and others. I hope she does
