Legions of fans who loved baseball growing up because of the mystique of the records, history and tradition lost interest, including me, when big numbers of players including infielders started to suddenly challenge records that usually held up for decades until the next bona fide great ones came along.
Roger Clemens throwing heat near age forty was like a runner that age running a 9.6 for the 100 meters.
Track and Field/Running has been sliding for quite a while due to the dope but the sudden fall of records in the 5000/10K and half looks an awful lot the Maguire, Sosa, Bonds, Clemens....era.
Who can really get excited?
You have this totally wrong lol. That era was baseballs greatest in terms of @sses in the stands and the sports popularity as a whole. It also ushered in these super ten year contracts. Then they took away the steroids and realized the stars they loved couldn't play at the same level past 35. Now there are no stars. No 300 win pitchers or 600hr guys, other than Albert.
Taken away steroids has killed baseball, lowest attendance numbers ever and lowest tv ratings, its horrible. No one wants to go backwards. We want to see better and better and better athletes as time goes on. The only way you get that is with steroids.
Plus we've figured, just like everything else, taken in moderation they are great for you. At least things like hgh and trt. You live a much higher quality of life for muchhhh longer.
Sosa and Big Mac ruined baseball?! You're freaking high. Clemens was also not throwing "heat" by today's standards or 1990 standards when he was 40. He relied mostly on his nasty splitter by then.
This is great for track. Steroids or not. Now the stupid shoe debate hurts it a little. That needs to die. Don't be mad cause the person you called the greatest ever just a couple months ago might not be so great after all lol.
