As a Tulane alum, Scott Guerrero (formerly of LMU) could be a natural fit for Green Wave gig if he wants to stay in college coaching

Wilbourn dropped his whole staff, except his sprints guy, the day after they won ACCs
Is the Washington University job open in St. Louis?

You mean the distance team that score a combined 10 points (800-10k) between men and women at outdoor SECs? Oh ok. RIP I guess
If you think that's bad wait till you see what happens with her
She’s shown she can win titles without a point in those 4 out of 21 outdoor events. Track & field makes up 4 of 6 sports she’ll head so better to invest in 66% over the remaining 33%.
Steve Keith retires
You just hate to see the possibility of them going all in sprints like several other programs. I wouldn’t say their distance squad is phenomenal, but it has had some decent showings in recent years (like 2016 and 2017).

I actually don’t tbh. Do what’s best for the program to win and what the HC specializes in should be what the program is best in.

So is it confirmed that Harris is going to be the new distance coach?
Caryl has definitely OFFERED him the distance coach job at Georgia. I have been told by someone close to the situation that he IS taking the job, but that's still unofficial.
Considering his good relationship with Caryl and the fact that he's from Georgia, I can't see why he would turn it down.
Bookmarking all these posts for when he stays..

Rhonda’s the new head coach

RIP to their distance team. Love to see the move for the middle distance team though.
This post is laughable , Harris is a good coach , he has been mentored by many of the old coaches you all like to Fanboy over. He was an SEC athlete, and can flat out coach. who cares about how some distance runners feel, UGA ain't winning Nattys in XC
Rita Gary
Andrea McDonough
Kelly Phillips
Then maybe Rhonda

Seen at NCAAs…could he possibly be planning a return to coaching? LRC’s favorite whipping boy Greg Metcalf!
Also, Hanna Peterson, who was run out of Arizona was seen.
Yeah, laughing to herself that she escaped while the rest of us are stuck in this sh!t show cluster fvck of a profession. And Greg is a salesman for Beynon. He's always going to be there.
Yea Metcalf was of course at Nationals. SELLING TRACKS FOR BEYNON!!!
Riley returns to Vandy as the head coach. Done deal.

Exactly. Harris will be an upgrade, they didn’t have a distance team. Previous guy didn’t do anything that would warrant Harris being a downgrade.

Solid list and I would say in order their resumes are strongest at the top... although Andrea has had more career success than Rita but not in the last 5 years. But the top 3 all have good jobs and I'm not sure I see them leaving
I’m not discrediting what you’re saying. His 800m experience will serve the middle distance crew quite well there. I was just referring to his experience as a long distance coach, like in XC. It says that while he was at Illinois, he was the middle distance coach, not the long distance or XC coach....let alone an assistant in either disciplines. I suppose that’s the same for while he was at USC.
You can’t give UGA distance enough credit though. They just came off probably one of their better cross seasons in recent years by finishing third at SECs behind Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Well that’s all good and well but Again as stated before it’s about points for track and field. A 3rd in XC does nothing for the track team. Harris had a guy win nationals in the 800, how many points did Georgia distance score at nationals? I rest my case
The UGA men's distance team has zero scholarships. Hard to make something out of nothing. Given that, third at the SEC meet is a miracle.

How many SEC schools are actually trying in XC?? Looks like only two really invest in it. Besides….it’s only 2 of 6 sports. It’ll stay ignored with Carol there.

I totally understand that they and most of sec don’t care about xc which is totally fine and they can/likely will win NCAAs at some point soon! But to be devils advocate distance is 6 of 6 sports and sprints/field is only 4 of 6 but again she can definitely win track and a focus on sprints and field is the way to go in the south! Go dawgs
