They are definitely a newcomer to being a “powerhouse.” Men currently ranked #1 NAIA, women #3. Certainly not a dynasty as they are new to the party but they are (were?) quite good this year.

If you read this board in the last few weeks you would think Huntington was an NAIA distance powerhouse. Fact is, they have not done anything team wise distance related
NAIA Cross Country Nationals
Year. Women. Men
2019. 10th 17th
2016-2018 neither team qualified for nationals (I did not look Beyond 2016) On another note, the NAIA has lost some good teams the last 5+ years so moving up in the rankings has become a littler easier (Brit. Columbia, Cal San Marco’s, Biola)
Think about all the great programs that have left the NAIA over the past 10, 20 and 30 years. Add Malone, Simon Fraser, Cedarville, Asuza Pacific to your list from 5+ years. Adam’s State, Western State, Lubbock Christian, Pacific Lutheran, Puget Sound and others leaving 30 years or so ago.
30-years ago the NAIA was better than NCAA II and the top 1-5 teams could compete well with top NCAA I teams. 20-years ago the top of the NAIA was pretty close to NCAA II, though not as good as it used to be. Over the past 10 years the exodus has been massive and sadly I don’t think it measures up against any NCAA division favorably.
Huntington results -
9/11 - men 25:49 team average, women 19:12
9/18 - looks like B team
10/9 - looks like B team
10/10 - 25:23, 18:37
11/6 - 25:38, 18:23 - note the women have a 16:40 runner that skews average time, #4 was 19:21 and #5 was 19:38
They have a lot of scholarships and they wouldn't be competitive in D3. 16th place for men at the D3 championships was 25:23 in VERY muddy and windy conditions in 2019.
So what happens at UCLA? does Austin O’Neil take over or do they bring someone in mid year with experience?
Agreed, NCAA all divisions are superior to NAIA from a competitive standpoint. I’m not disagreeing with any of you. I was simply pointing out they are (were) quite relevant within their organization/division.

Huh?
He was let go on X-mas?
Have you a link to support this?
The rankings are a little off this year with 30% or more of the teams not competing in XC. Their top 2 women are the top 2 runners in the NAIA which skews team time but in the national meet if all teams participated they might be looking at 1, 2, 55, 130 and 160 which puts them in the 9-11 range. Having multitude of scholarships is a game changer as you are competing against schools that have 3 to 3.5 scholarships spread out over 12 distance runners

This is the same idiot who posted “Sean Carlson to Huntington.” Full of crap and just on here to stir the pot.
Devvy isn't leaving his alma for a private college DII vaca before he gets those boys to NCAAs. Way outta character.
I understand the Hoyt/UCLA connection, but nice try shadow lurker, head back to the shadows.

Not sure it is, but their previous assistant did leave for Illinois State (I think?) back in June so I assume this is what they’re referring to.

Right. Man that feels like a whole lifetime ago.
Any word on Idaho?
Heard no one applied bc its a bad position, your pretty much just holding a stop watch and getting bossed around by the head coach
First round of interviews already done.

Yes, I’ve heard they have 3-4 solid finalist!

All coaches hold stopwatches. In fact, if any coach never held a stopwatch I'd assume they're terrible.
