You are weirdly upset. Kind of lame to name call and go off, you think? Building from a model that is retired and removed from current state of things doesn't take me reading some book, my guy.

Ah, the old "extra scholarships" reasoning. He was just handing out money under the table, was he? No way they could have won with just 12.6 with distance kids willing to sacrifice, and jumpers that Booth turned into scoring machines, and a few select sprinters on Pell grants.
BTW, where was my extra money? I was a 4:10, sub 9:00, 15:00 cc kid out of high school and I only got 20%. I never saw a dime of these extra dollars that I have heard so much about over the years.
Watson from GV to Wisconsin… I’m betting his spot is filled by one of the many GV alums that are coaching .

Stay in your lane Winny. This stuff is over your head. Learn and know your history.
And yes, I know this is a job thread and will no longer post or comment otherwise.
Lol my post went over your head but it's okay you're right we should get back to jobs.

John McDonnell. The "Greatest" NCAA X-C/Track coach in history.
Read his book and you'll learn how to build a successful program through X-C and Distances in the nineties [\b].

Winny,
You come on here spouting a lot of stuff like you are an expert on the college coaching world, but on this one you really should stay in your lane. Not only did John McDonnell win in the 80's, and really big in the 90's, but he won A LOT in the 2000's before retiring in 2008.
And also, the template he used to win NCAA titles has been used successfully recently. If you were really an insider, and followed the sport you would know that.

Way to dodge the question on SJSU. So if you are asking if I will continue a similar situation as I do with my HS team for 20 times the money then the answer is yes. So stop comparing them.
My apologies man. I did not realize you were an uber driver.

Godd@mn you Johnny Mac Taint Licking Fraternity Bros are just as easily triggered years later. I coached against his teams in the 90's. There was no "under the table money" that I am aware of. Definitely nothing dishonest or shady. No doubt he won for a few decades and he won the right way. Given the rules at the time.
However, it was no secret he had a whole network of juco's as his exclusive farm team, knew how to hook those guys up with filthy cheap housing, knew how to keep those guys academically eligible and help them with other sources of scholarship (again, entirely legal and on the up and up) that didn't have to count against team totals. The NCAA has since made all of this much more difficult to do between defined "extra benefits," progress towards degree/APR and much more strict "countable aid" (it's going back the other direction now of course).
Oh, and the distance depth was much weaker back then so it was easier to get more points out of the same guys. But I realize this is a more subjective argument that is "arguable."
Again, this takes NOTHING away from his legacy. He played by the same rules as everyone else and kicked their a$$ at it. But that method will never be entirely replicated again. Because it can't be...at least not until the P5 break away. Ok, now you JMTLFB's can have at me again...smooches!
PS - This thread hasn't been about useful college coaching job info since actual collegiate coaches started to wise up and not post real intel here years ago. At least we're keeping this usually boring-ass thread entertaining.
Ya momma
SJSU Distance job pays $60K per year starting, with potential for more from camps, etc.
Can you guys stfu about it now? Great. Thanks.
So Oral Roberts, Campbell, North Dakota and DePaul all need to hire assistants for distance. Do you they just hire after the season at this point?

I knew that would bait you into posting again under a fake name lol
Heard a school in Texas is quietly looking for a distance coach. New situation with a great staff but Current distance coach can’t take direction from HC.
Houston, tx state, SFA?
Care to say which school it is?
Sounds like Baylor.
My guess as well. This is a promotion from within.. Majority of the other hires were made by the HC.
