Yes
You got the job! Congrats! 🎉
speaking of texas schools, any word on the lamar jobs? do they even have throwers for that throws position to coach?
Someone who has coached professional athletes and has written an entire training book should have no problem convincing recruits to commit even without scholarships.
Two things are concerning:
-He consistently had terrible recruiting classes
-when he does sign decent athletes, he is unable to consistently develop them
The Houston Chronicle's Zwerneman reports Texas and Oklahoma have reached out to the SEC about joining the league and an announcement of the move could come within a couple of weeks. A decade after major conference realignment shook up college football, big changes might again be on the horizon.
Texas and Oklahoma of the Big 12 have both reached out to the Southeastern Conference about potentially joining the powerful league, a high-ranking college official with knowledge of the situation told the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday.
An announcement could come within a couple of weeks concerning the potential addition of UT and OU to the league, the person said, which would give the SEC 16 schools and make it the first of a national super-conference.
Texas A&M exited the Big 12 nine years ago this month, and along with Big 12 ex Missouri gave the SEC 14 teams, which it has been at since. UT’s addition to the SEC would also mean the Aggies and Longhorns would again meet annually on the football field for the first time since 2011.

Big 12 would be dead in the water without Texas. Wonder if they would pull up some mid majors or try to combine with Big 10
maybe some MWC or Summit League schools. Don't think Missouri Valley or Big Sky could really cut it for them.
I'd bet Houston would try to move to Big 12
I think this would signal a major blow to Olympic sports in the NCAA, if the power 5 changes to the power 2-3 that then becomes its own division separate from the rest of the NCAA. Without the NCAA rules (scholarship minimums, sport participation) we could see lots of track teams cut.
Who cares. Get back to the jobs. Create a separate thread if you wanna talk about this stuff.
What's the word on Ohio Univ head position? How difficult could they make this hire be

Your post, I can’t agree or disagree with it. But it did spark a thought. What is the criteria for being a power5 caliber school? When the last time a non-power5 school became a power5 school?
If say Houston joined the BIG 12, that will make them a power5 school. Is it that simple as just being added one of those conferences, I know that’s obvious but how often has that happened? I’m just trying to think about how did this even become a thing? I’m sure 40 years ago there was no such thing as power5. Is it just based on how good the football teams were so they all decided to be in try same 5 conferences to play each other more?
Let's see, The Houston Ath Dept currently has a budget of approx $68 million. If they joined the Big 12, they could expect to add another 35-40 million. I'd say a budget of over $100 million would qualify them as a Power 5 school.
Yes, you are considered a Power 5 conference school if you are in one of the top 5 conferences. Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, ACC, SEC. If you are not in one of those 5 conferences, you are not considered a Power 5 school.
I think you missed the true nature of my question, I stated that already and of course know that. What is the origin of that? Are their schools that used to be a power5 school and not anymore or are all these schools set in stone and only bounce from one P5 conference to the other? What is the criteria? Is it just athletic budget? I’m asking a deeper question than just what you’re saying which is what we all know. Is it just a popularity contest/revenue generated status? Can someone give me a real answer
TCU is the last one I really remember going from a non P5 to a P5 but that happened before the Big East fell apart or at least around the same time.
