I'm not getting any younger. Now's the time to see what I can do over shorter distances.
This and/or think about the long term. COVID is temporary. I'm guessing, for most of us, that we're not done setting PRs (or setting goals) whenever we get out of this. I want to break 2:30 for the marathon in the long term. There aren't good racing opportunities right now so I'm focusing on the shorter stuff (5k-half) because I don't have the speed for sub-2:30 rn. COVID has helped me reset to some extent. I feel like I often get stuck in the pattern of racing two marathons a year. I do high mileage but, to be honest, that's not gonna get me to faster times if I don't improve my speed. It has helped my training to think long term. My marathon potential will be increased whenever I toe the next start line.
