I recently bought a pair of 20 lb dumbbells to ramp up my strength routine. I am female, 110lb, 5'2", so 20lb is decent and 30-45min of work is very effective. I was hoping to use them 2 times per week and then have an easier stability/core session. My question is where in the week would they fit best? I'm about to start a 20 week program for a marathon, with peak mileage at 55mpw. Here is an example week of what my schedule is like:
M - 8 easy (PM)
T - rest day / stability/core session
W - 11 with speed/tempo intervals (PM)
R - 5 easy (PM)
F - 5 easy (PM)
S - 16 steady or with some MP or tempo (AM)
S - 5 easy (AM)
My thought was to do a session Wednesday in the AM and then another Sunday AM. Thoughts on this? 11 miles on Wednesday evening plus weights is a lot of time...and I'm afraid I'd wake up too sore Thursday AM to get in a good weight session, but am open to other thoughts. Schedule can't really change much because of family/work obligations.
