History was the most popular major at my liberal arts school, and its graduates typically go into finance in New York City and make a lot of money. If I were you, though, I'd double major. Pair History with something you are interested in and that adds a significant skill- or knowledge-base that would be an asset to you and give you multiple options, business, finance, law school, you name it. Good reading and writing skills are scarce in the market, and many companies know that their top people majored in some liberal art at a top college or university. I double-majored in history and philosophy and almost tripled in physics, but in the end I didn't want to take a fifth course each term of my senior year. A science or math major as a second major is a clear asset.
