I get paid about $1400 a holiday (maybe more for (New Year’s Day, as I should be getting a raise at the beginning of the year).
Do you realize how many people work these same days for a fraction of the money? There are privates in the Army pulling 24-hour duty shifts from 0900-0900 every one of those days all around the world and they only make about $1730 per month or about $58 per day.. You make almost as much money from those four days alone as they will earn in three months. And let's not forget those who spent those holidays in Iraq and Afghanistan over the last 20 years. From personal experience, there is nearly a 100% chance that a base will take rocket and/or mortar fire on American holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4, you name it, it's a day to get fired upon. What about the police patrolling the streets those days, or the firefighters who need to respond to fires from candles accidentally starting fires, etc? Do they make $1400 per day? Nope. And as other posters already mentioned, hospital workers are on duty 24/7/365.
You may miss your holiday time but you are certainly making serious money for your work those days.
