With a few restrictions to break the back of the virus, and Australia ...with a population of 25 million.....has practically crushed COVID.
A total of 98 active cases now currently across Australia

As long as the pandemic rages overseas there'll always be active cases from international arrivals.
I've lived in Australia for the past two years. The draconian lockdown measures have breached my liberties and freedom. It's disgusting how the government have sought to control my life here. They've shut down the economy so many times to achieve what exactly? Can't wait to be back to the land of the free.
Is this post meant to be ironic? The South Australia Police tweet went viral last week telling a woman that her husband cannot go outside to walk the dog or exercise.
Also, it helps to be surrounded by water and have unbelievably strict immigration policy.
Um.... the measures taking in Australia means that in places where I live everything is good. No covid cases, athletes training as normal, limited restrictions, no face masks and no covid cases in 6 weeks. You can go back to Nebraska but I think I like it here a lot better than the good old USA.
This pandemic sure seems to be doing something to change free speech laws and stymie overall liberty and human rights in a number of countries. Germany has taken a big step backwards recently and I hope we are not going down a path of violent horror again. We are now seeing what the one of the goals is of the overall covid agenda.

And to just give you an idea of ridiculous you sound, if we're taking the data provided at face value, Nicaragua is doing much better than Australia after doing absolutely nothing. Nothing! They're not even wearing masks indoors!
Surrounding central american countries don't have many cases but a lot more than Nicaragua even though they have more restrictions. Why do you think that is?
Well, we are going down the same road as Australia and China. You see this?

A government shill. One case and the whole state gets locked down again. It isn't worth it. Australia has failed.
You can go back, you know. Departures are permitted for anyone who is intending to leave for three months of more.
They haven't crushed it until they have herd immunity. Until then, they are just as vulnerable as anyone else. There economy will rebound somewhat, but with the closed border policy, its tourism economy will be non-existant (not as big an issue for Australia, but a huge issue for New Zealand).

https://covidlive.com.au/states-and-territoriesEh I read about the restrictions Australia put into place during the height of lockdown. Seems like they just trampled on any concept of individual freedom basically making the country into a totalitarian state. I rather stay in Texas & take my chances with a .02% mortality rate.
I've been moving quite freely my friend.
Working every day, including 5 interstate trips during last 6 months, running at our club race series, at my Thursday group session, parties at home, drinks in bar etc
The 98 cases are probably all in quarantine, ex overseas.
Would love to travel overseas, but that is not a huge sacrifice. Can see where govt is coming from, if you leave then they have to put you in quarantine at cost when you get back from infected places like yours.
Quite happy with the set up, not much sacrifice to have no sick people around you.

Yes, but I’m referring the restrictions that were put into place during Australia’s lockdown a month ago. The Australian implemented an incredibly strict freedom limiting lockdown once and they will do it again whenever deemed necessary.
All those things you mentioned- traveling, club racing, pubs, weddings, etc I was always able to do in Texas and still can do.
At the end of the day it’s all your preference. I will take the .02% mortality rate of COVID if it means I don’t have the constant threat of the government locking in my house if it deems it to germy outside. That trade off may be fine for you though.
Our head office/logistics etc is based in Melbourne, where they had the strictest lockdowns. We seemed to be ok.
Our company has performed better this year than last year, we all got paid more.
And as for Texas, yesterday you had 20,000 cases, bringing you to 1,212,000 cases and 21,000 deaths.
Australia has 27,000 in total, 14 cases yesterday , 12 of which from overseas (in quarantine) and 2 in south australia that got infected from another overseas visitor somehow in hotel quarantine
Rather be here than in Texas
Yes, my company and it’s employees have done fine as well.
Again, it’s all personal preference.
Agreed. You are much more likely to catch COVID in Texas than in Australia. However, looking at the last eight or so months, I would also argue you are much more likely to have your individual freedoms restricted in Australia than in Texas- especially in the era of COVID.
I’ll take my chances with COVID. However, you may differ and prefer to take your chances with your freedom.
Freedom > Communism.
America's pandemic response > Australia's pandemic response.
southern hemisphere, November is late spring, cold/flu season ends. Occam's razor => no fancier explanations called for.

COVID is everywhere and, to be hones, I'm not sure that everything what they are speking about is true. You know they transformed everything into marketing....
We should be celebrating 9/11 every year
* Al Quaeda had the FREEDOM to crash into the twin towers
* The survival rate was 99.999% - it was far far less lethal than Coronavirus

Mr 2600 has absolutely zero shame.
He also doesn’t know anything about Australian weather.
And, since Covid is gong to be around forever New Zealand might be in trouble. Nearly 10% of NZ’s GDP comes directly (5.8%) and indirectly (4%) from tourism.
