I ran 10:50 in a practice tt yesterday in the 3200 off of 30-35 mpw with a tempo and long run each week. I haven’t done any interval workouts yet, and I still have quite a bit of time left in the season as CIFs don’t happen till like february. I plan on building to 50 mpw. I ran 18:13 for three miles last year. Can I run a 16:30 this season? What would be a reasonable goal considering I haven’t done any workouts other than tempos and my milage is low?
Ran 10:50 off base phase. What can I do later on?

How old are you? How long have you been running? Let's start there.

I’m a sophomore(16). I started running at the start of the xc season last year, and I ran my 3 mile PR early on in the season(after 5 weeks of running) (thought I could go to the well every run and not get hurt). Is there anything else that would be helpful?

Seems to me like 2 miles at a bit faster than 3 mile goal pace early in the season for a young dude is a great first step towards your goal. It isn’t a shoe-in but you have a great shot. I bet you could run 17ish right now for 3 miles.

16:30, maybe even 16:20 is definitely possible, good luck
