Havent been wrong yet. It is a fast course and never said the record would not be broken.
Then again put Hutchins on that cramped VA showcase track, have her run all by herself the entire race, and nothing would get broken. :). She definitely had a smarter venue.

"Cramped VA showcase track"? You just dig a deeper more pathetic hole with every post, please keep at it. A banked 200m track is every bit as fast a flat 400m, especially for a girl of her stature. But please don't admit that you were wrong wrong wrong and history has been made yet again. That would show a sliver of credibility which you don't deserve at this point.
Oh I forgot. You think having to pass runners in the second lane 3-4 times is pacing.
Ok. Running on a large outdoor track with no interference and a pacer for the first half of the race made no difference. I feel so credible.
Lol. Buck up. At least I am paying the slightest attention.
But all that said, I am curious. What do you think Hutchins would have run without a pacer (who ran with her 7-8) laps and if she repeatedly had to pass runners in the second lane? Or if she had no one running in the same straight as her the entire race?
Like I said, legitimate record. It could have been a redux of the 3200 with two pacers for 6 of 8 laps, so it was nice to see.
But there is still a ton of calculation, especially given how naturally the record was set with no help at all in a regular high school race. It still involved some major record hunting, running a track race just to take advantage of good xc form, choosing a venue where there would be no race interference and a large track, having a pacer, running with runners fast enough to push off of. I guess it meant a lot. :)
You're knocking on a 16 year old girl, it's getting sad. But you're now hovering between anger and bargaining, so you're at least making progress.
Hutchins may very well run low 15s next year. What will your excuse be then? And yes, her performance means a lot because she's now the faster US HS female of all-time.
Something else I am curious about. The indoor track that Tuohy set the record on is a 200 meter banked track, one of only a handful in the US. Whereas the standard outdoor track is 400 meters. The Liberty University track was built in 2017 and has a standard surface.
The CIU track was built in 2019 and is again 400 meters. And it is a Mondo track, which is considered the fastest track surface and which is associated with innumerable records.
So even putting pacing and track interference aside, which track would be better suited to a faster time, the 200 meter banked track or the 400 meter Mondo track with the much longer straights? Calculation indeed.
:)

It’s less than what Hutchins owes you for living rent free in your head.
Hey I would have let it go, but people wanted to argue with me. And I think just ended it.
Listen nothing wrong with going after records. And nothing wrong with making smart, strategic choices to do so. I guess not even in high school.
All of that research you posted and the depths you’ll go to try and defend a teenage girl is extremely creepy. If I had a daughter, you wouldn’t be allowed to go near her.
Yawn. I initially said good job. People wanted to argue. Well OK. How did I do?
Terrible. With records, there is only a name and a time. That’s it, no excuses. All Hail, Queen Jenna.
Facts again. Sorry. But that is certainly the crux of it. Get your name on the line.

Look at you being negative again. Noticing the pattern?
Not trying to be. Just pointing out facts. Take it as you like it. These were records set in very different ways in different types of venues and races with very different approaches and degrees of assistance.
You literally have never raced on a track before. Possibly heave never been to a meet. Maybe when you get your learner's permit daddy will let you drive the car to one.
Guys let me jump in here, see a lot of confused faces out there, I know you guys are looking for a voice of reason, an oasis of sanity
When Katelyn Tuohy set her record a lot of us asked well what kind of course was it? We didn't immediately start throwing up the parade! Or trying to shout it from the rooftops.
No rather we look at the race, looked at the info we could find, and gradually we started to piece together that it was a really fast time on a reasonably normal Cross Country course
Then the speed ratings came in and Katelyn Tuohy hit 176 then the next week 177, not positive but I'm pretty sure she follow that up with a 174 or 175
So was like 3 or 4 weeks ago she was basically running off the chart times and ratings and it was just clear it was another level after she was already incredible her sophomore year
But the point I'm driving towards is, Basically from all the evidence it looks like Hutchins is right on par with Katelyn Tuohy sophomore year
Their speed ratings were pretty much identical Tuohy hit 172, Hutchins 171. Now the 5K times line up pretty similar if you take into account all the factors
Anyway good for Hutchins it looks like she's really stepped it up and is the elite Runner and is on par with probably the best all-around girls distance Runner her Breakout year.
The thing is Katelyn Tuohy really stepped it up for junior year. For good and bad. She improved but she also got injured
Now reasonable person looking at the evidence would say that Katelyn Tuohy Amber Trotter and Melody Fairchild gave more epic performances in cross country than Jenna Hutchins has so far
And stop it already with cross country records there's no cross country record cuz every course is different. It's just a thing that is hyped by media Outlets because they want to sell. For the last time there's no cross country record there's only the times you run and the difficulty of the course and the conditions that day
Or I guess to put it more simply there's simply course records!
Now Jenna Hutchins seems like a really nice person. She seems like a genuinely nice person who's giving it her all. Hopefully she keeps the mileage down and is more focused on health and the future than immediate Glory because unfortunately High School phenoms don't have a great track record
She broke the track record yesterday. Get with the program.
So no answer. I guess I'm right. Cool.
