Of course we should. My family wears their masks in public. I remind them to wash their hands. We social distance. We don't lockdown. We don't cancel holidays. We respect, but aren't scared of a virus that kills less than 1% of people infected. Look, Biden has won, back off of the rhetoric.
You state you social distance, but then you talk about celebrating Thanksgiving (which in the context of this conversation implies you'll be celebrating with family that doesn't live with you). So you don't social distance. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Per the CDC: "Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping a safe space between yourself and other people who are not from your household."
Also, you state you work in the medical field - what area? Obviously not epidemiology if you state "My body, my choice." Do you understand what a pandemic is? Do you understand that it has nothing to do with just your body at this point? The real statement should be "my body and a bunch of other peoples' bodies, my choice", that way its more accurate and you can just own up to how selfish you are. This isn't like people asking you to wear a helmet when you're riding a bike or to not free solo a rock wall.
Also, having compassion for your fellow humans isn't being scared of a virus.
