I'm recently retired due to an ankle injury and am looking for a running shoe to wear for work. I work all day on my feet in the hospital, and due to the ankle issues I'm looking for a high cushioned, low drop shoe. I've typically worked in Nike Frees which aren't well cushioned and recently got a pair of On Cloud X's which are comfortable, but not particularly well cushioned either. I'm looking for recommendations about highly cushioned shoes with a heel drop around 6mm or less. Any recommendations for the best options for all day wear? Of course I'm familiar with Hokas and Altras (and have run in Altras), but don't love the look for work. New Balance has some fresh foam options with low heel drop like the Vongo, but I haven't tried them. Any recommendations would be great.
