Hi all,
I am looking for a recommendation for a max cushion to join my Asics Novablast for longer runs. I want something that is not to firm - more on the soft side, quite responsive/versatile but as the same time has good shock absorption on hard roads and not to heavy. I did check out the Infinity react but felt heel slip and a bit sluggish. The clifton 6 I felt it was sluggish and sank in it to much. I am looking at the New balance 1080 v10 and wondering if that is soft underfoot and versatile enough or the Saucony triumph 17, but have heard it has a hot upper , quite heavy. Has anyone ran in both? What are your thoughts comparing the two and any other recommendations. Thanks.
Cheers
Steve
Max Cushion recommendation (Versatile/shock absorption)? NB 1080 or Saucony triumph etc

Wasn't a fan of the 1080. Though some really like it.
Triumph is a big comfy cruiser.
On the traditional side, I'd through the Glycerin in there. It's not light, but has a nice, smooth cushioned ride.
Maybe a little on the firmer side, but the Saucony Endorphin Shift is really nice. No Hoka sinking feeling. The speedroll transitions really effectively. -

One other addition would be the Gel Nimbus Lite 2 set to launch Dec 1. Looks very promising. -
Reebok Symmetros is the real deal.

Hi,
I got the NB 1080 v10 and compared to the Asics Novablast, these felt pretty lifeless (NB) and firm, not much energy return. Is it just me or do these NB 1080 v10 change over a few runs.
Cheers

Endorphin speed
or maybe a cheap pair of Turbo 2's -
I found the Shift too firm, but I'm light old and slow. Really liking the Skechers Max Road 4 +. I run the Nova Blast too for LRs. I use the Max for easy/mid days. It's 6mm drop.

I have a pair of Triumph 17’s. They are nice and well cushioned but are heavy. I much prefer the Skechers GORun Ride 8. If offers a similar level of cushion but is much lighter.

Yeah, I have these and use them for LRs with pace, and workout days. They are $$, but cushioned, light, and could be a do it all shoe (just pricy). Not the best for 5K type work, but very comfortable. -
Hi,
I returned the NB 1080. I stay with the Asics Novablast and Reebok Symmetros, much better than the saucony triumphs and NB 1080's. I did try the clifton 7 briefly, nice an cushioned but didn't have the pop.
Cheers Steve -
Normal, the Symmetros are at the top of the game here.
Lots of cushion, but alive. Featherweight compared to any other max cushion shoe.
And stable and structured as opposed to the Novablast.
For me these are the best max cushion trainers by a long shot. -
I agree, I did about 3 runs in the NB 1080 v10, did exactly the same run in the Novablast and Symmetros. They were so much more responsive and enjoyable to run in than the NB .
Cheers

Asics Nimbus Lite 2, releases soon. Comparable to 1080.

My last pair of shoes were the 1080’s V10.
I didn’t hate them but I certainly didn’t love them. Agree with the other comments that they weren’t responsive at all.
They were ok at best, I moved onto the Saucony Ride, which I so far prefer. -

Ditto on the Ride 8 -

I see the Skechers Ride 8 on sale for $60 in running warehouse.
Worth a try? -

What do you have to compare to the Ride8? (Width/length) I've been curious about this but hearing they're overly narrow is a concern. Being a bigger runner the 1080v10, Clifton were a no as they seemed to be too soft.
