Great work in that 4:50.21, you're in a great position to go under 4:50 in your last race. I had another crappy week, still not recovered from this foot injury which is something wrong in my 3rd tendon leading to my middle toe.
Monday 5/24: 3.35 easy at 7:56. Was 100% favoring the foot and heel striding a ton to avoid putting weight on the toes but at least I was able to run
Tuesday 5/25: 11 miles moderate/hard on the bike, 40ish minutes with 500 feet of elevation gain.
Wednesday 5/26: 20 minutes easy at 7:45 on grass at an away meet. Afterwards I was walking around a lot and helping the coaches take splits and was barely limping at all.
Thursday 5/27: 20 minutes easy at 7:26, 4 strides. Got taped up before this and wasn't really favoring the foot at all, although I still couldn't push off hard on my toes/balls of my feet
Friday 5/28: 30 minutes easy bike
Saturday 5/29: 10 minute warmup, limped through a 2:20 4x8 split ewwwww.
We had a big relay meet on Saturday where we were hoping to qualify a 4x8 for postseason meets and I was supposed to be the fastest leg based on previous prs. For obvious reasons I skipped Wednesdays dual meets in hopes that I could maybe run on Saturday and I got the go ahead after getting through 4 strides on Thursday. My coaches said I wasn't favoring the foot at all in the strides but I was definitely altering my form because my strides were all cadence and no power in the steps. Got taped up for the relay meet and felt decent enough to put on spikes again but I knew I wasn't going to race well during pre-race strides because my form was so choppy. Went out in 67 mid, closed in 73 mid which is my slowest 800 since April 2019 but I guess that's to be expected when I haven't done a track workout in almost 2 weeks and was hobbling on an injured foot the whole way. I was able to outkick someone on the last 100 but apparently I was visibly limping the whole time which sucks. First 5 minutes after the race were very painful, and my coach talked to me about considering shutting down the season now which I definitely won't do.
Looking forward, we have 1 dual meet left which I won't race in, then the conference meet in 10 days where I'll hopefully be back in the 4x8. Gonna go back to biking for a few days and go for a Wednesday and Saturday workout to give myself the best chance for conferences because our 4x8 should score and if I were healthy we'd have a good chance at winning.
