They know some drugs can help the body in amazing ways and they want to experiment.
I've been in health care for over 30 years. It used to be that physicians overly prescribed corticosteroids and more people used them chronically with the resulting negative side effects. I still actively see patients and I do not see near as many people using them and if they do, it is for short term use. I think that some of this has to do with fewer people smoking and there are other effective treatment alternatives for lung disease.
I work in a dumping ground seeing patients getting injections who then come to us. I see patients all day long who get 3 or 4 injections a year. It’s a quick in and out visit to the MD and requires no critical thinking by the provider , MD , PA or NP. It’s a way to get patients in and out faster and still bill quite handsomely. It’s a nasty bandaid that creates more problems.
