Parents are better at raising their kids than the government is. The virus will do what the virus will do, no matter what we do. Who are any of us to say what is best for these kids to do. It's up to their parents.
You don't think the government ever needs to step in to protect kids from parents?
That is a different question. What if the Government decides that all children must be raised as Christians?
I love Rojo and Wejo...... They sit here on their high ass horses and promote the Texas meet along with other meets and never once have anything negaty to say about them( I guess they got paid for those). And then
come out with their sarcastic ass post and try to bash kids for traveling to a meet in Alabama to compete.
The Hate is real in this thread. People say follow the science.....well I have. If you aren't old as hell and in decent health, you really don't have much to worry about.

You are right. You don't have much to worry about. But not everyone in the world is that big of a sociopath where they only think about themselves. Most people care about other people. If by my actions I contribute to someone else dying, I would feel bad. To make it really explicit for the slow people, if one of those kids kills grandma, how are they going to feel? Now in the real world odds are they aren't killing their grandma but somebody else (i.e. they infect the flight attended who then infects the grandma 2 flights later). But in the end someones grandma ends up dead.
Don't be dense. Be smart. If you are grandma WHYTF are you on an airplane. My grandparents live in the same town as me. Guess what, I limit my exposure to them to protect them, especially if I've been out and about. It. Isn't. Hard. Idiot.
You my friend are part of the problem. Don't take away from these kids. If they want to go to Alabama to run let them, their parents and Grandparents are adults who can choose to be exposed or not be exposed to these kids. It is their choice....isn't that what the left always preaches about, freedom of choice? Oh it is only about choice when you are literally killing something. Got it

And what does your precautions do when your grandma comes into my doctors office after we spend the weekend hanging out at an XC meet in Alabama? It is no big deal, we are young and in good health and it is our kids last HS season. We aren't unlikely to die. And our patients are old and will probably be dying in next 20 years anyway....... Seriously are you that dense that you can't generalize at all? Or do you not understand the basic idea that people can transmit the virsus to other people and that transmission doesn't stop have to stop with 1 step but 1 person can infect 1000s before that line dies out?
The reality is the XC meet will. probably will not kill anyone. Let's give say a 1% chance. No big deal right? Well now the band wants to their trip. Soccer wants a tournament. I want a tattoo, You want a big mac. And so on. After all if you can do your low risk activity, why can't I do mine? You can do the basic stats on what the odds are of someone dying if you have a 1% chance but you take 1000 chances.
Could you do a meet safely? Sure. Quarantine the kids for 2 weeks before the race in a bubble and then for 2 weeks after they get home. Some how I doubt that is happening.....
How selfish is grandma here? What grandparent who loves their grandchildren wants them to sacrifice their childhood for them?
No joke. The killing grandma strawman is a disgusting abuse of using the elderly to shame people for doing things that upset you for no reason other than your own jealousy and hate.
My grandma has Alzheimer’s and is in a memory care facility. We have not gotten to visit her once and she still got covid. And she was fine and now still is. And I still go to bars to hang out.
Think for yourself and use rational thought. You are being duped by the media. Imagine how much money they’ve made this year dancing around on screen yelling the sky Is falling. It’s fear porn.

You don't have to imagine how much money they are making. You can look at the published numbers and realize that this has been a net loss for the media companies. But why think for yourself and use rational thoughts when you can parrot what some idiot on the internet is saying....
Is a double Trump flag more or less dangerous than a confederate flag? If I'm out for a run and find myself faced with choosing the lesser of two evils, which way should I go? Is it all about the banjo music? In all seriousness, if you were to break down in rural Alabama, either of the flag wavers you described would cheerfully help you, regardless of your ethnicity.
Are you from Alabama? If so, you may be more qualified to speak to the subtleties of the area than I am. I have had experience as a young runner in the rural south and have found that kids with big trucks & rebel flags (many of which are now replaced or supplemented by Trump flags) indicate a higher capacity for belligerence. Granted I ran a lot of miles over four years in a rural GA area but my teammates and I experienced a lot of yelling, threats, objects thrown, wild dogs and even a hit and run. Yes most people in Alabama and most people in general are good. Odds are that on any given day you’ll be fine. However I still think it’s a good idea to stay on the beaten path if you don’t understand an area yet. Breaking down in your car is a different situation in which you have shelter and likely have a phone. I don’t think any kids out looking for a fight will come after you. Especially if you’re an adult. There are a lot of things I really like about Alabama but know your surroundings.
