I have a goal of running my local Turkey Trot in less than 20-minutes. Based on the advice I've received here, I've gradually increased my mileage to ~30 miles/week over the past 2-months. My last 2 workouts have been:
--3 x 2K with 2-minutes rest in 8:20, 8:18, and 8:17. This is my Daniels "Tempo" pace, but the effort was a little harder because the 2K dropped and climbed 130' (the Turkey Trot course has 2 hills that are ~1K in length). This was done on Saturday.
--5 x 1K with 90" rest on the track in 3:48, 3:48, 3:45, 3:45, and 3:42. This was last night.
I think these indicate that I have a good shot next Thursday. Do I keep it easy from here on out, or should I add another Tempo this weekend?

WWJD? What would Jack do? Probably recommend something like 3x1 mile at T for your last workout.
Enjoy the Trot magic. Best race of the year. -
I like 3xmi too, not necessarily sure if I would try to squeeze this in to peak Thursday, (considering 5x1k yesterday) but if you're up to it, you can probably do it somewhere from Sat-Mon.
Also might be good to consider a sharpener like a low volume of 400s at race pace. Nothing that you're trying to gain fitness off of, but to get your legs prepped. -
Thanks for the advice!

Is your TT in person, or virtual?

Virtual. I dont plan to sign up, but I'll run the course on Thursday morning anyway. -
