I just did a 5x1k workout at 2:52 average with 2 min rest. What do you think my 5k could be?

A 14:20 runner should run that workout. However, I bet a 15:00 runner COULD run that workout. I’m going to guess you’re the latter.

depends on the effort wrote:

Anywhere between those times.. if it was nice and smooth 14:20, if it was moderately tough at the end 14:40 and if it was a gut buster 15:00 -
Definitely sub-15:00. 5 x 1k on 2:00 rest is a decent predictor. You might lose 2-5 seconds/k in a race. But as others said effort matters. If you were really pushing, closer to 15. If the effort was at 5k pace then sub-14:30 is possible. Probably somwhere in between is right. If I was you and was racing soon, I'd go through the 1st k in 2:55-3:00 (slower is fine), and go from there.

Why has nobody invented a workout prediction tool? You just type in length of rep, length of rest, repetitions, and it comes up with a race predictor? Is it because the Brojos would issue a take down notice as it would render half the posts on this forum redundant?

I remember someone actually did, but it was super inaccurate because it doesn't factor in effort level. The only workouts that can serve as race predictors are the workouts specifically designed to do so (like running 8x400 off one minute rest, adding up the four slowest reps, and predicting 1600 time from that). -
