Some thoughts:
-Brynn Brown is undoubtedly the fastest high school female XC runner in Texas history
-Martin David-Chavez won regionals over the tight pack of Luke Lambert/Christopher Daniels/Chance Gibson by 25+ seconds.
Not sure if Luke just had a phenomenal race @ state/poor race @ Regionals, or if Chavez had a subpar race? But then again, Luke beat Daniels by 26 seconds in this race, and Chavez still finished 2nd overall.
Also:
5 girls sub 18 in the 6A race
11 girls sub 18 in the 5A race
26 boys sub 16 in the 6A race
31 boys sub 16 in the 5A race
There's just no way. I'm going to guess the weather was a big factor, unless they changed the course? I have a hard time believing there's 4 other guys from the 5A race that are on Ben Shearer & Judson Greer's level. Judson Greer already crushed the 5A runners in previous races, most recently at the Lovejoy XC Festival, and Ben Shearer I know did the same in an early season meet.
If you throw Grapevine's times into this race, they would have won. That's not accurate at all. I think we all know SLC still would have pulled out the big W. I'm very big on Grapevine's future (6 returning runners next season!), but 5A times seem heavily inflated.
