She’s doping, right? I mean, she’s 37 and was always an also-ran nationally on the track (15:20 in 2006 was probably her best result) and now has become the top U.S. marathoner while her husband (who was coincidentally the top U.S. marathoner) is making no effort to hide the fact he’s on steroids.
I know 37 isn’t necessarily too old for the marathon—just look at Carlos Lopes. But then again, Carlos Lopes is a runner who I really admire and find inspiring, but his progression raises eyebrows if you’re looking at it objectively.
Just surprised that this hasn’t been mentioned yet on this thread given the nature of the site—unless it’s being moderates to protect Sara Hall, for whatever reason. Is she doping? I got $5 on ‘yes.’
Y'all are acting like this is one of those ridiculous CJ Albertson hero workouts. These top athletes are doing 40k long runs every week or two. On this one, she threw in some pace on the second half at a goal pace. It wasn't some nutty 20 mile tempo or anything. As long she wasn't going all out to achieve that pace, I think she'll be fine come race time.

To be fair, wasn’t she coached by Magness for a while? I bet most people would improve significantly if they ditched him as a coach.

Funny you say this as I found his podcast this morning. Don't know much about him but I am not impressed with what I've heard him say.
she recovers well, she was running 70+ miles per week in high school which built a foundation. she just wrapped up a 130 mile week as well.
Hey letsrun,
Will it take one of your investigative reporters to find out why Sara Hall's recent Half-Marathon PR in Aug. 2020 has not yet been added to the World Athletics records site?
Just curious.
There is an incredible disconnect between the Hall’s abilities and their consistency.
This was true of Ryan as well.
Ask yourself why did Sara not make the Olympic team and then turn around and run so well in London?
Why did Ryan man handle an incredible American field at the OT and then lose to Ritz in Beijing?
I could give hundreds of examples with both of them.
They are incredibly hard working talented athletes that are clueless when it comes to training.

Strava thinks the London Marathon times improved 12 minutes last year thanks to supershoes
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Clayton Murphy is giving some great insight into his training.
