Take up running?
check out the reddit page r/stopdrinking
seriously, its one of the few bright spots of the internet
Seek in patient treatment. Your drinking is not the problem. It is your coping mechanism. Only with inpatient treatment, with properly trained addiction phsycologists, will you be able to identify and treat the true cause of your addiction. Good luck.
Not much to think about, just stop. Go out for a run, go meditate. Maybe get some shrooms and go for a hike on a beautiful fall morning.
If you don't have the self control to give yourself a break to re-evaluate things, then I would get that Antabuse stuff and start taking it.
You'll start to associate drinking alcohol with discomfort and minimal enjoyment (even though you already should)... this will help you implement the first part that I said.
Good luck, I never drank a lot and never by myself but I stopped drinking for this year and it's been amazing.
Good thread here

Definitely go for a run today. If I get a run in, the chances of drinking fall significantly - like to 1% chance.
Sober up for a few days, and things get easier. Keep busy, there is plenty to do even when unemployed. Keep running.
On top of the other advice given - you need to ask yourself why you want the drink and think about the consequences of your actions. Be fully aware of what you are doing and what the result will be. You already know you are an alcoholic and you can't drink. Listen to yourself - don't drink. Go for a run, do something, anything, that makes you a little bit better. Be mindful of what you are doing and choose to do things that move you forward as a person.
Practicing mindfulness makes this easier - do this all day, like say to yourself "I am thirsty and am going to drink a glass of water" then go drink a glass of water. Even small things like, "this light doesn't need to be on, I am going to turn the light off" and turn it off. it seems a bit ridiculous at first, but you become better at being aware of what you are doing and doing things for a reason - rather than having your days go by without really paying any attention at all to how you spent your time. Practice doing everything for a reason.
I replaced alcohol with sugar. Candy like you wouldn't believe. That, and running a LOT.
The sugar created new problems, but I haven't drunk alcohol in 20 years.
You can do this. Find YOUR alternative/s.
thanks guys
Some well meaning advice so far, but you've most likely got a disease which will require more than a few laps around the block & some sweet tarts. Hit an AA meeting or two and see what you think. It's one thing to admit your drinking may be a problem, but another to accept it. AA helps big time.

No, you chose to make a problem and blame it on the alcohol. There are jobs out there even though they may not be what you like doing. Might need to do that before something better and in your field opens up. Covid-19 sucks and nobody likes it but it won't be here forever.
