No, I largely agree. And i was around at the time. I would just say that i got more than a little repulsed by them (Beetles) after the sixties because they were so overplayed. ANd i don't think they were a step ahead of everyone else. The Beetles took ROck in a pop music direction. Great if that's your thing.
But Bands like the Kinks and the Who took Rock into whole new genres of harder rock. I would go as far as to say that the Beetles at the time tried to give them a run for their money with songs like Revolution, but their strength lied elsewhere - they were orchestral and orchestrated, very polished, very measured, and tight as the dickens, to their credit. But they were not the rock progenitors in the way the rockers were. They were really good, but I think not to the exclusion of other stuff going on at that time that would be even more influential, and in my opinion, at least as enjoyable to listen to, if not more.

For extra credit I also don't like Thomas Kinkade "the painter of light" paintings. In the late 1990s I remember a Thomas Kinkade "painter of light" store in my local mall, back when there was a local mall. It was next door to the CD music store.
LOL, for those throwing shade on The Beatles, you are simply wrong. If you are going to criticize them at least spell their name correctly. "Beetles" is a name of a group I've never heard of.

I like Journey and the Captain and Tennille puts the others on your list to shame. Muskrat Love is one of the worst popular songs, ever. I wouldn't have bought any of their records but Karen Carpenter was a fantastic singer. Here is a quote from John Fogerty about her:
Karen Carpenter had a great sound,” John Fogerty once told Rolling Stone, “but if you’ve got three guys out on the ballfield and one of them started humming [a Carpenters song], the other two guys would pants him.”

Al right already. They have a lot of stuff i really like. THe "Beatles". Norwegian Wood, Yesterday, A Day in the lIfe, Eleanor Rigby.
What that other guy was saying, it made a lot of sense, and led me astray.
I take it back. And I will cue up some later tonight.
George Harrison was my favorite, for what that's worth.
Forget i ever said it.

There is no such thing, music is suppose to come to us in blues, jazz, funk, soul, Big Band, pop, R&B, punk, reggae, rap, hip hop, rocabilly, country, hillbillie, rock & roll, obviously we make choices, but......hate....nay!!!!
Finally a grown-up enters the room.

To say Karen Carpenter had a great sound is one of the epic understatements of all-time.
Sir Elton John said in 2004: “’Judith Durham, Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy, possess the purest voices in popular music.”

And two of them dead way before their time.
No Barry Manilow or Rick Astley sightings on the thread yet. Maybe they are back in vogue.
I'm pretty sure my top 5 would all be late 90's punk pop like Blink 182. But they're all the same band anyways, so they get #1 as a whole.
Next would be all country pop. Same band, rated as 1.
2000's boy band(s). Same.
Modern (after 90's ish) hip hop pretending to be rap. All the same garbage.
All reggae. Can you tell one 'artist' from another?

Well, that's a relief. Just worked my way through their catalogue, And damn, that stuff they did with Billy Preston is fine. Wish there was more of it.
Of course, 'Let it go round in circles' stands out amongst those, but there were a few others. Long and Winding Road features some nice keyboard by Preston.
Let it be.
* that's "Don't let Me Down" performed on the roof with the Beatles, not "Will it Go Round in Circles". My bad.

it goes on and on but those are the ones that first came to mind.
replace cardi b w/ maroon 5 bc cardi and lizzo are basically the same person anyway. just that one should be on tlc's 600 lb life.
1) Maroon 5 - I could wear out multiple pairs of shoes kicking all their smug nasally faces in.
2) Train - not even sure if they have any songs apart from 'Drops of Jupiter', but even typing that makes me want to rip my own ears off.
That's it, apart from Barenaked Ladies, that was a good (bad) shout from a previous poster.
ADELE
That terrible voice will crack the paint on your walls. Sounds like what I imagine a tortured cat would sound like.
Drives me to madness, MADNESS I SAY!
Manifold is ok because years ago, he admitted that he sucked, and was blown away that people liked his sh!t.
Really, though, his music and singing ARE total sh!t.
But he’s still a million times better than Adele. I’m traumatized just by writing these posts, her voice has given me PTSD and I am experiencing the symptom of intrusion.?
