Has everything you need in a series. Amazing acting, story, drama, and cringeworthy moments that you can’t look away from. Highly recommend everyone watch the pilot in the least.
10/10 and deserves a thread on LRC

Great series! I loved how it ended, was just what we needed to brighten a day in the pandemic.
10/10.
I’m on the last episode.
Favorite show in years.
Does any opponent of the protagonist play the albino counter gambit? I play that and that would've messed her up good.
Got one episode to go.
I’m more of an e4 guy myself so I haven’t brought myself to watch it
Definitely one of the best series of the year. Maybe even better than Cobra Kia.

I've seen part of the series and will now plan to finish it (in my oceans of free time--ha!).
More generally, I'll say that Netflix just has a *lot* of good stuff lately. And a lot of dross as well--they just have a *lot* of content overall. Ditto Amazon Prime.

I wasn't expecting much from a show about chess but was pleasantly surprised. Just goes to show that a strong narrative and well written story drives serial drama more than anything else. This show and Normal People (on hulu maybe?) have been my favorites of the year. I'll probably watch some nature docs then drop netflix again.
I didn't like how the butler did it and not only killed all those people but was in actuality every single male character in the show. Very surprising ending.

Yes very well done. After watching it I started playing chess again.
I thought the show was great. Would highly recommend.

she literally plays e4 in all but one game
Story was completely predictable, but it was well shot and produced. For a good chess movie I liked Searching for Bobby Fischer.
It was solid but the main character was definitely a wisher, and if there is one thing I know for sure she ain't no Bobby Fisher....Bobby Fisher, where is he? I don't know I don't know. Bobby Fisher, where is he? I don't know I don't know.
Hahaha bro... watch the series. Let's just say: she dismantles the Albin in a very important game.

I loved it too.
One thing. I'll try to be vague to not give too much away.
Are we supposed to take her American competitor Benny Watts seriously? He's supposed to have edge how he dresses and acts, but he looks like a kind of scrawny crocodile dundee wanabee. Really difficult for me to buy into his character.
It is excellent. There are only seven episodes and I split them up over four days so I could savor the viewing.
