I've seen a post or two on here about this triathlete Richard Murray before but this guy is just ridiculously talented. Here he does a tough workout on his bike immediately followed by a solo 4:05 mile on the road. You have to wonder how good he would be if he purely focused on running. Apparently he was the world junior Duathlon champ from 2007-2008.

I am not sure why this is so staggering anymore. The best triathletes in the world are seriously good runners. Maybe not quite world class but definitely top end national standard whilst also being great swimmers and cyclists.
Alex Yee is one of the best runners in triathlon and is only 23. He regularly runs high level road and track times in legit road races:
https://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=663344
He recently ran 13:26 for a road 5k and was only 6 seconds behind Marc Scott who ran a British record. Yee's time was also inside the old record so he is now second on British all-time list for a road 5k.
Also, didn't a US triathlete recently beat some of the best US guys in that road half marathon? I know it may burst a few egos but the worlds best triathletes are pretty much equal with the best runners outside of East Africa. -
Richard comes from a running background, that's why running is his best discipline.

Murray is a good runner but seriously you guys need to stop taking GPS performances too seriously. He might as well have a "friendly" watch. He knows he needs to head on a track if he really wants to make it count (same for his recent 5k and 10k)

The GPS argument falls down when you look at the top triathletes track times. Alex Yee popped out a 7:45 in his one 3000m this year on a windy day and ran 13:29 last year at the anniversary game over 5000m. He also ran 27:51 for 10000m at Parliament Hill night of the 10,000m in 2018. Like Yee, Richard Murray is one of the best runners in triathlon so it's not unreasonable to suggest Murray is capable of the times he is claiming. These guys are seriously fast.

Second rate runners that hate on triathletes need to understand that these guys are very good athletes with HUGE aerobic engines. Proof positive that cross training has some very positive effects on running performance.
The other reality that these guys are also smarter than the average elite distance wannabe. They fully understand that 13: XX or 28:XX is not competitive at top echelons of the sport and opted for triathlon. I have never understood the hate from failed runners? While a bunch of former D1 scrubs try to justify their existence (while running slower than these triathletes!) and talk s**t about a lack of sponsorship, federation help, respect, et al, these guys are making a good living as PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES. But, stay pure and let us know when you finally bust 14:00 / 29:00 at age 27 and have Olympic glory and schooling Africans in your sights! -
Do you know what “insane” means

I was amazed when I spectated an international triathlon that’s held close to my house. It was about 12 years ago when I thought I was a pretty good runner with a 1:19 half as probably my best PR.
To see several men run 30:xx to 32:xx 10K after the swim and the bike was mind blowing. -

Yawn. Yee is miles ahead than RM and is a runner.
RM has just launched his clothing line. Maybe all these stunts have something to do with it.... -

Just like stunt like nick symmonds did running 3:52 mile in the bouncer flys, which Murray uses. So maybe that was a 4:20 mile effort -
So, should we all buy bikes and cycle a little bit???

Bouncer flys are the least expensive part of a triathletes ensemble. -
Did he not re-tie his shoes before starting his run? I can't even imagine lol.

This man was 4th at Rio.
