They look like good kids but I wonder why they’d associate themselves with a coach who coaches Rupp, given all of the doping and fake TUE accusations that surround Galen.
No offense but NAU got the wrong Wisconsin kids. Youll see Saturday. Both will be back in DIII before the start of their sophomore zoom u year.
Hopefully helps LRC haters realize that you can get big money as a 9:30 kid in Division I (like I did) when the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS are signing 9:12 and 9:17 guys.
That's nothing as Wisconsin used to get 4 guys under 9:00 for 2 MILES in a year.
Those 2 guys are getting nothing.

No offense, but I'm going to guess Coach Smith has a slightly better idea of what he's doing than you.
Looks like NAU has figured out the secret depth of Wisconsin and Michigan.
Why say that? Their current Wisconsin guys are doing fine. And it is rude to say that they did not get the right guys when the other guys probably did not want to go there or may have demanded a scholarship to go there. Every coach and every athlete searches out the best buy. This is not football where a scholarship is a full ride.

Agreed. People forget that the NCAA is bigger then just power 5 schools. You can get big money from other D1 schools and still have great education and racing opportunities. High schoolers take note.
NAU is putting 12.6 scholarships into cross country. P5 schools are trying to balance that number between track and XC. If there is ever a scenario when XC only scholarships come into play, that will restore the balance back to true track/XC P5 schools

Not entirely true. First, I doubt that they are fully funded. Second, they had two throwers and a jumper last year who were obviously on some scholarship. Third, they have 15 guys who would be number 1 on more than 200 D1 teams. So even if they have 8-10 total scholarships of which they put 6 into distance, they have 8-10 guys who should be full scholarship guys and another 10 who should be partial scholarship guys. Rumor was that Hastey only got books and Easton walked on.
First, they are absolutely fully funded. Most of their conference is as well. To say the 3-peat national champs aren't fully funded is hilarious.
Second, they aren't offering fulls to those second-tier kids but I'm guessing that due to COVID their PRs are junior year time trials or sophomore year times which makes them a bit more impressive than they look on their face.

There is a decent chance these 4 kids are under 9 by the end of track season. Most of them had really limited outdoors last year.
Realistically if you can get 4 kids/year who are running down around 9:00 every year, you should be expecting to roll out 5+ sub 14:00 5k runners every year for your X team which makes you a contender. The question then is can any of them develop into low stick runners (call it 13:40 to be a top 10 contender) and can they all peak on the right day to get you on the podium and competing for the win.
They have football so it highly doubtful that they have the capacity to have 12.6 for another men's sport. The more I look at it, I bet they only have about 8 for Track. No way they are fully funded. Most of their 9 flat high school types are going there for books until they break 14.
They put 7 scholarships into distance. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Same here. Actually if the kid is smart enough plenty of small D1 schools can offer damn close to full rides, especially if they stay in-state.
Small D1 schools are private so it there is not discount for being in-state.
The Virginia men’s recruiting class is much better. Vin is building another dynasty down at UVA.
