Hey, I just witnessed, a few minutes ago, what i thought was a car prowling. After running about a block past it, I turned around and went back to check it out. For the first time, i could see that the guy was African American (before that I just saw him slouched over the passenger side door with a flashlight trying to get in and i could not see the color of his skin). So when i get back to the car, he glares at me real bad. I keep going but stop some distance away to kind of scope it out. We stare at eachother for a while and he asks me if I've got some problem in that i seem to be watching him a whole lot. I still don't know if this is a car prowl or not or if i might be in danger so i just say that i'm just running through the neighborhood. He says well if you got something to say why don't you just say it.
I said good night and have a good one.
About 10 minutes later i headed back to explain this was a misunderstanding and apologize. By the looks of it, i thought it might be a car prowling and had nothing to do with the color of his skin and i was sorry if he took it that way, but that had nothing to do with it. But the car was gone and so was he.
Maybe some other day i will have the opportunity to clear the air.
But honestly, the Dave Chappelle advice influenced me in my decision to head back and apologize. Totally.
