It probably comes as a surprise that I agree with you, Rojo.

Was he wrong? Has it not curtailed mass shootings?

I was recently in Springfield, Ohio (nearby his home), and if I was as wealthy as he is, I would not live there.
I think you have to admit that Springfield and Yellow Springs, where Dave is from, are about as polar opposites as there can be. Yellow Springs in known for Antioch College, hippies, and everything liberal even though it is not that simplistic.
Springfield is an industrial town has-been with a lot of struggling blue collar workers. I do not intend anything negative toward Springfield, just very different from Yellow Springs.

If you frame Chappelle as more a storyteller with a few jokes sprinkled in, he's brilliant. He has understood race any of us even cared, if any of us do care.
This ^
Also, one of the things I love most about Chappelle is that whoever you are or what side you're on, he'll make you look at yourself - if you're willing.

What was the deal with the smoking though? Really? Did that add anything? He can't wait to take a drag until he's done? Did I miss something there?
He does this because Chappell is a degenerate . Part of the problem with the entertainment industry , is they think they have a holistic view of everything. Chappell is more like Woody Allen ( who decided to Marry his daughter ) , then the everyday worker in America.
Chapelle smokes because he wants to smoke.
He does it on stage because he doesn’t care what others think and has hit a level where he can do that.
His inhibitions gives him freedom to take risks and is what makes him funny.
Some things don’t work.
Last night he wasn’t at his best but still had done moments.
Playing the Allstate guy as Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben were getting fired for as pretty funny.
If you don’t find him funny, you don’t find him funny.
Comedy is subjective.

I don't get it. This wasn't that great. There was a couple of funny things but there was nothing amazing. Meh.
I agree that it was an average monologue. I thought Bill Burr was funnier and wittier a few weeks ago as the host.
I’ve seen both Bill Burr and Chapelle live. Both are great comedians.
However, I agree that there were only a few funny moments in that monologue. Most of his recent sets have been similar, more preaching than comedy. The overall message is positive, but I want funny stories and jokes with a comedian. The Chapelle of 15 years ago was much funnier.
Wow celebrities know everything about politics
And government
If Dave had made a joke about how 75% white fathers abandon their own kids, because white people are so disgusting, most of these lilly white posters would have laughed their heads off.
No analysis of the fact that Dave is hatefully projecting his own community's problems onto whites. No quick google of the single parent household rates by race, just laugh at the 'brilliant' black guy who has a heart of gold for encouraging anti-white racism and violence.
'I'm one of the good whites, I can admit that 75% of white dads abandon their kids. Dave said so. Don't be racist. Why do you hate Dave? Look, the stats don't matter, it was a symbolic truth, whites are generally bad okay?'
Remember when Dave admitted that the entire black community knew that Jussie Smollett was lying, but they defended him anyway and kept his secret until the police investigation finally finished?
I member. What a nice guy, keeping Jussie's secret like that. What a nice community, circling the wagons and pretending it was a 'modern day lynching', to use Kamala Harris' brilliant words.

Just a type of comedy that goes over your head. You're not alone, several others responding on this thread reveal it, too.
It went over your head, and what went over your head wasn't the comedy. You got hustled by a white guilt salesman.
Sit for a minute and think about the deep shame Dave is dealing with. Born a rich suburban black kid, surrounded by whites his whole life, and trying too hard to be down with the brothers.
Imagine Dave driving to his house every day, out in the cornfields surrounded by nothing but white people. And all summer Dave watches blacks burn down city after city, while Dave sits safely among all those "KKK" whites.
Think about the identity crisis and anger and shame this guy is dealing with, before you laugh at his slick race propaganda.
Imagine the deep shame for any ethnic-nationalist, of any race, when their own 'community' burns down cities, abandons their kids, and kill each other at 4th World levels.
Imagine trying to be proud, and failing every day, and being such a closet white supremacist that you don't live within 200 miles of your own race that you pretend to be so proud of.
You're thinking too hard about this, weirdo. It's just entertainment.

No, you're not thinking hard enough, even as you tell other posters that they just don't get Dave's brilliant humor.
Dave is ultimately his Clayton Bigsby character in his subconsciousness. And he over-compensates by telling himself and us that he's really a proud black nationalist.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLNDqxrUUwQI love being white and I also love Dave Chappelle. Must be hard for you to reconcile.

Great point. They will ignore it and scream racism
