Today was the Pennsylvania State XC Championship and the course was almost 3.25 miles!!! Not to mention that all races were run in heats and then times combined to determine winners. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that the PIAA fought hard for us to have a season (and thank you PIAA for the hard work to save our season). But the race format and the fact that the course was not accurate made this a very disappointing championship. How could this happen at a state championship that uses the same course every year??? This was the best weather and course conditions we’ve had in YEARS, and a field that included a Foot Locker All American from last year and numerous runners who have already signed with MAJOR colleges. Yet no one broke 16:00 minutes!!! The kid who ran 16:09 may have broken the course record (15:25) if the course had been accurate. What a shame.
